    Would you prefer for Loria to pocket the money and not field the best possible team?

      Interesting that all 3 teams courting #Pujols with 10-year offers will be directed by new managers in 2012 > #Marlins #Cubs #Cardinals
      cubs the third team?

        • It's not the Yankees. Our payroll will end up between $100 - $120 mil. That's barely above average.

          • I'll be pissed if anyone but STL or MIA gets him.

              Marlins execs come downstairs. Loria mum. I heard him say, "I'm not smiling." No clue what he means.

              • Maybe this helps clear up Smilegate:

                @DKnobler
                Loria said: "I'm not wiping a smile" as he wiped hand across face.

                  That's what he actually said.

                          Well no.... but I'm not that thrilled about adding Pujols and a pitcher. I have no idea why. I wish I was gangbusters about it.

                          I guess I kind of like the underdog role. It's why I'm a Marlins fan (and Everton fan) to begin with.

                          • fuck, after all the players we haven't retained over the years, I'd be happy to sign the world

                              At least you have no idea why.

                                I get that. It's been our identity for a long ass time. But this is how meaningful baseball teams react. A new identity for us all. I'm embracing it.

                                Plus, we'll be watchable. And win games and shit.
