I don't think Latos is as good as Gio.
The Reds gave up a lot, but I don't agree with your last sentence.

    • I think it's probably close, and I understand why you disagree, but I'll take Gio's two best years over Latos'. I don't think being 24 vs. being 26 makes up the distance.

      • I'm going with Latos. BTW Latos two best years worth 7.2 wins and Gio's worth 6.7.

9.2 vs. 5.8 in Gio's favor by Baseball reference WAR.

              Yeah, I get that.

However, Petco still suppresses offense in major ways, so whatever he does at Petco has to be discounted, even if looks roughly the same as elsewhere.

Also, 102 ERA+ last season is not exactly stellar. I'm not saying he's not a really good pitcher, I just think he's bound to see some decline and looks better than his actual talent.

              • The stadium Gio pitches in is massive, as well. You could probably make a better case for him being a product of the park he pitches in than Latos.
                --------------------
And yeah, Latos #'s will decline; he's going from SD to Cincinnati. Same could be said for Gio though, if such a move were made.

                • Oakland park factors aren't close to Petco.

                  Gio put up a 127 ERA+ in 2010 with a 3.23 ERA. Latos put up a 126 ERA+ in 2010 with a 2.92 ERA

                  • I know that, but that wasn't really my point.

My point is that Oakland plays in a pitcher's park as well, and Gio (unlike Latos) doesn't have quite the same #'s on the road in his career.

Gio's career ERA on the road is nearly a full run higher than his career ERA at home.

Gio also still has a BB/9 of 4+, while Latos doesn't really have those control issues.

                    • Brewers win the rights to Aoki. They don't need him.

                          • Maybe the Brewers can finally get rid of Carlos Gomez.. He is sooooooooooooper fast but dumb on the bases, can't hit worth a shit and takes awful routes to the ball. With Braun facing the suspension. It's not a bad move.

You guys see Brauns herpes is the rumor of their defense? lol I joked about it with friends last week never thought the herpe defense would actually be used!
