If this sets the market for starting pitching, we could see some mega trades for some other top notch starters (Gio for example).

I've seen all of those players minus Volquez play for an extended amount of time. All of them are very, very talented. Boxberger, who used to be a starter, transitioned to the bullpen in the second half of the 2010 season and got rocked. This past year, however, he was down-right nasty. In 34 Double-A innings Boxberger had a nice 57/13 K/BB ratio and has a really good changeup to go with his fastball and slider. Yonder didn't have a positon and was horrible in left field and was blocked by Votto a first. Grandal is a good switch-hitting catcher but was blocked by Devin Mesoraco. All players were expected to be traded except for Boxberger, who could now be the Padres' future closer.

With how insanely overvalued their pitching gets because of Petco, it's absurd that the Padres aren't any good. They should be making trades like this every offseason.

I don't think Latos is as good as Gio.
