I really, really dislike when they make one sentence a paragraph in an article

        Y'know?

          Code:
             It's a print thing.
             Columns in print
          are really thin,
          like this, you know,
          so paragraphs end
          up being much shorter,
          or else you end up
          with super intimidating
          long blocks of text
          that are really hard
          to read as well as
          really ugly to look at.
             In fact, a common
          tool many page designers
           and copy editors will
          use is to break up
          longer paragraphs
          into even shorter
          ones if an article
          comes in a just little
          shorter than they
          expected.
             It doesn't translate
          as well to online
          formats, but most
          (if not all) newspapers
          still produce for the
          paper first and then
          transfer to the web
          site,writers and editors
          still emphasize print style.
             It would be rather
          arduous for the online
          editor to go through
          and rework the story
          to make it read better
          for online.
             And that is all from
          me, your resident employee
           in a backwards and
          dying industry.

The article has a somewhat valid argument hidden in all the Tigers dicksucking. We are in the middle of a changing of the guard at the top. Texas is still on the ascension, Philadelphia is only in year 3 of their status as a flagship and Detroit is positioned to join the club soon.

            Today:

            -New York
            -Boston (possible decline forthcoming)
            -Philadelphia
            -Texas
            -St. Louis

10 years ago MLB's flagships were:

            -New York(s)
            -Atlanta
            -San Francisco
            -Boston
            -St. Louis
            -Cleveland
            -Seattle

            20 years ago:

            -Toronto
            -Pittsburgh
            -Baltimore
            -Oakland
            -Los Angeles
            --------------------
Also worth mentioning that it appears MLB is ready to rule on the A's to San Jose. Rumor is Selig will rule in the A's favor at the winter meetings. Wolff is positioning himself to buy up the remaining parcels needed for a downtown San Jose ballpark.

                    The dimensions will be:

                    302-375-405-345-315

I like it. The trend over the last 25 years has been to put all the premium seating between the lower and upper decks. The nosebleeds in some of the newer stadiums, notably Rangers Ballpark and Progressive Field, really are nosebleed heights. This stadium puts the club level seating all the way at the top of the stadium. Those who sit in the upper deck will have an experience similar to the ballpark before premium seating became the norm. That's very cool.

They'll become the San Jose A's right?

This is apparently an ongoing story that I was totally oblivious to.

                            Yes.

MLB has been 'studying' the Giants territorial claims (in the MLB constitution) to San Jose, which the A's gave to them in the early 90s, for almost 1,000 days. There was some speculation the Giants recently relieved their CEO of his duties because MLB wanted to soften some of the opposition within the league to such a move. If MLB does rule in favor of the A's, it will be interesting to see what type of compensation (similar to the O's and Nats situation) is worked out.

This is a GREAT blog about the issue: http://newballpark.org/

They're building a park in Silicon Valley and making it that generic and faux retro? So fail.
