  • Seriously, What's the Deal with Jose Bautista?

His current line is .260/.372/.596 with 32 homeruns in 369 AB

Coming into this season, he had 59 career homeruns in 6 seasons. He never hit more than 16 homeruns in any season. In 2008 he had 32 extra base hits. In 2009 he had 29 extra base hits. He has 58 this season already.

He never had an OPS + better than 101 (last year). This season it's at a staggering 161.

All this and he's just hitting .217/.337/.478 against lefties while he's killing righties to a tune of .270/.380/.623. He's got a 1.144 OPS at home and a .822 OPS away from the Maple Leaf Centre.

He also had the highest ISO in July (.418)*, so I mean, it's not like he had April success that's still padding his stats.

I think another cool thing about his line: .244 BABIP (though .275 in his career so not like he's good there).

It's also not like just "bam more home runs." He's basically changed himself as a hitter. His FB% is up 10% and GB is down 10%. I definitely think good idea of Blue Jays to hold onto him rather than sell low cuz I'm sure they got shit offers for "probable fluke"

*Stanton fourth at .360, behind Cust .368 and Cabs .364
