  • National League: Ross Gload Signs with the Phillies

My boy Ken Rosenthal says Ross Gload is gonna sign a 2 yr deal and his Final 3 teams are Phillies,Braves, and Marlins

Ross Gload should soon sign a two-year deal with an NL East team, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The only question is: which team will he choose? The Phillies, Braves and Marlins are all interested in the 33-year-old utilityman. The Marlins turned down a $2.6MM option for Gload's 2010 services earlier in the offseason.

come on, philadelphia or atlanta. don't let the fucking small market/division rival marlins outbid you for what could be the final piece of the puzzle.

Gload was invaluable last year. What a pickup. We need that dude.

The Phillies have agreed to sign Ross Gload to a two-year deal, according to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. He leaves the Marlins behind and joins Ben Francisco, Brian Schneider, Greg Dobbs and Juan Castro on Philly's bench.

According to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, the Phillies have signed free agent utilityman Ross Gload to a two-year contract.
Gload, who turns 34 in April, drew interest this winter from both the Braves and Marlins. The left-handed hitter batted .318 as a pinch-hitter this past season for the Phillies and put up a .261/.329/.400 overall batting line. He joins a Phillies bench that already includes catcher Brian Schneider, outfielder Ben Francisco, and infielders Greg Dobbs and Juan Castro.

Guess that leaves Matt Stairs out of Philly

I liked Gload but he's replaceable. Hate to see anyone I like go to the Phillies, though. Really wasn't a fan of giving him a 2 year deal anyway.

Any ideas for what left-handed bats we might look at to bring off the bench? Hinske?

One real possibility, depending on how much he impresses in Spring Training, could be our Rule 5 pick, Jorge Jimenez.

Damn what a bummer, he played great for us last year on defense and as a pinch-hitter. But as someone mentioned, he was simply asking for too much, can't blame the fish for this one.

Don't worry guys, he may flop and end up being traded with cash to pay his salary back to the marlins midseason
