To have much preferred Abrams - a standout five tool player with star potential - over Bleday is a reflection of "hate" for the latter? You have to be kidding.

What good is a high draft pick when it turns into Bleday instead of Abrams - some might wonder.
Hmm, I wonder how that could be construed as hate in combination with your weeks of posts about bleday and meaningless comparisons to other players who have won SEC player of the year

Because it is not interesting?
It really has no bearing on anything.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. Or a hairstylist."

Sean Hoorelbeke in 23 Arizona games: .388/.479/.713 (1.192 OPS) so he's better than both of them I guess

The gentleman of whom you speak was drafted in the 33rd round in 2009, at which time he played those 23 games in the ARL before finishing the season in short season A ball. His career ended after just six games the following year. Injured? Arrested? I don't know. Fizzled wasn't it, that's for sure. He didn't have time to accomplish that. Thanks for sharing ...

Anderson is on the verge of a full blown breakout. If it's not already happened.
He just hit HR # 20 (11 last year in 200 more PA), and the last two were against a good lefty (Keuchel). He had a 200 point OPS disparity in favor of RHP before today, so fuck that noise with this. Season BABIP entering today which really won't be impacted with the HRs today - .279. He was .332 last year. That's a lot of room to grow as he is still basically hitting .250 right now. His defense (which was already slightly above average), has notably ticked up this year. There is nothing screaming negative regression here, unless we want to start a conspiracy theory of a juiced ball. If anything, he is owed 20-40 average points so I only see positive regression here.
I really wasn't thinking of Anderson as a buyout candidate 2 months ago. I was thinking he was a good player you'd keep through arbitration (which his his age 30 season so why push the envelope for back end prime years?) and not really care if he leaves, or offer him a smaller extension a year or two into arbitration, but this is turning into a big time CORE player profile.
Given the lack of 3B depth in the system, that you can move him anywhere on the field probably, that Anderson is a full year from arbitration, you can use his lower R/RBI counting stats against him in arbitration so he has more to lose not signing versus a dude on the Yankees, and 4 years from free agency, I think it's time to think about this if we think he's a for real 3+ WAR player moving forward. His back 4 controlled years are ages 27-30. I think it's going to be hard for him to make $20 million those years, and that's if he stays healthy.
I'm thinking you give him like a 5/$30-35 deal which gets him the guaranteed money today, and is a really nice added 1 year of free agency control for the Marlins, and tac a club option on the back of that for like $12-15 million a year.
Kepler just got 5/$35 in a similar deal (he also has an option on back), so that's in line with that. Anderson has been a better pro than Kepler at this point (ignoring Kepler's 2019), but he is also 1 full year back in control at time of contract AND isn't a Super2 like Max. So basically, Anderson should slot a smidge lower because he isn't getting paid this offseason as a Super 2.
I think I'd do this and gamble Anderson is a good player at 31 (guaranteed) and 32 (option) years old. Hell, maybe there is a 2nd option tac'd on the back of that. I don't think they'd need to commit more than this. Anderson would have to make a choice of selling low on himself like Max, but be completely set up for life.
I think there is a deal here. I'm loving Anderson lately and I think this is for real.

U dont get the concept of age/talent-the Marlins did this for years. Would have Top Picks or 24 yr olds in lower league destroying it then promoted and looked like crap. Marlins had a arm 5 or 6 yrs ago in GCL who had like a 0.23 ERA and like 40K in 24 innings who got released in offseason because he was 24 already. Was he good? NO but when u are playing against inferior talent u look amazing
