        • The most poorly timed article I’ve ever read about the Marlins. I had to check the date. I can see running this article after the Stanton trade or Yelich but now??

            This is my favorite line:

It’s also worth noting that this roster isn’t one the Marlins could realistically have if they had just stood pat: Some of the players on this list were at one point acquired by the Marlins in a trade for another player on the list

Shoulda held on to Romo if we didn't want an article like this written about us. Way she goes...

              • Crazy 3 way that sends another good SP to a bad team,Cleveland gets a young arm,DH for next few years and prospects while SD gets another prospect?

Anderson,Rojas and Caleb Smith are getting tons of calls. Issue is no team has offered what they want-Anderson and Rojas they want "to much" for while Caleb they want a ML ready big time bat while they have gotten offers of packages

                Ones I have heard are
St Louis for Knizer,Junior Fernandez,Malcom Nunez and more(they like ALL of them but NOT for him) They want Gorman+
Milwaukee for Dubon,OF and more while they want Turang or Hiuera

They would trade Richards for that but NOT Caleb

                • it feels like puig has been involved with 4-5 brawls this year and not once has he actually done shit. these brawls are so stupid with these fake tough guys yelling at people until someone holds them back and then they start to act like they actually want to fight. Amir garrett actually went after guys

                  - - - - - - - - - -

if they offer keston hiura straight up for caleb smith i would take that.

So would Miami!! We want that 1 big bat and 3 way trade which was pretty much Bauer for Taylor Trammell makes the Caleb market even stronger. They prefer a ML ready guy but would take Nolan Gorman/Brice Turang/others

Still watch what NYY and Cubs do-they are hot after alot of our guys. Frazier/Ian Happ/Addison Russell are stuff we like

I agree absent a truly stunning package. Sixto, Aflaro, and Stewart level package.

They want little less than that but ya thats what it would take. Looking for that 1 big time bat instead a package of a few really good things

                          Frazier and more from NYY
                          Tucker and more from Hou
Gorman and more from St Louis
Hiuera or Turang and more from Mil
Not sure what from Cubs(Cubs have been all over us-Castro,Caleb,Richards,RP,Walker)
                          Not sure what from TB
                          Not sure what from Oak

As of last night the packages for Caleb is what they want for Richards(should go up with Bauer for Trammell trade) also most of those teams are looking at other stuff from us. RP,vets and Rojas as 2B/SS

                          - - - - - - - - - -

Walker/Grandy/Castro(with cash)/Riddle/Conley/Other RP and Noesi can be had. Wouldnt be surprised if Rojas and Nick Anderson are traded. While Richards and Caleb are unlikely to go unless offers get better(which is possible depending on market)

Marlins are also talking to teams about minor league P for minor league bats and minor leaguers for IFA $. IFA $ would be spent on some Cubans eventually

                          - - - - - - - - - -

NOT saying we are getting Puig next year but Marlins are now expected to consider him since NO pick compensation now

He is NOT high on the list but if price is right we could see him in RF in 2020+

Apparently Cards like Caleb - https://twitter.com/markasaxon/status/1155984914904256512.

                          I mean duh he's good.

Cards farm isn't that great depth wise, but they have 3 high end guys (one being a catcher and no way that's happening with Molina being ancient and Alfaro is solid w/ Banfield). You'd need Gorman (Top 40 prospect), Carlson (Top 100 prospect, 1st round pedigree), I. Herrera (ascending catcher), and Sosa (Rojas replacement) to even get the conversation started for me. Maybe another fleeting guy or some IFA or eat Castro's money. That's probably like $85 million in surplus value based on projections.

That's valuing Caleb as something like a 2.5 WAR starting pitcher (2.6 in his career over 186 IP) over 5 years with semi-notable salaries.

Hard to see the Cards doing something like that, but feel free to offer everything you got Cards.
Marlins want a Gorman plus guys like Junior Fernandez/Nunez and more to even start a discussion. Cards started with Knizer which wasnt what Miami is looking for. Yes Molina is ancient but they got 2 C prospects who should be ready in 2/3 years

                          • Caleb Smith for Trent Grisham, one for one with MILW. Grisham is 22, LHB, and crushing. I'd even toss in Nick Anderson.

                                Frazier package yes,
Tucker package hell yes, which they won't do
                                Gorman package yes,
Hiuera yes obviously and that one especially can't happen, Turang isn't a centerpiece for Caleb.

You'd need Amaya AND Nico from the Cubs, another low level prospect, and Ian Happ who is a good buy low. Career .242/.358./479 against RHP (650 PA), and does have a .774 OPS vs RHP in the minors this year. If he can hit right handers a little and play all over the field, great bench guy floor. They can have Walker/Castro with this too for sure. Still, this is not the best package and is probably still a keep.

Tampa has a lot of fun stuff, but you could figure out packages for Brujan or Liberatore. I'd only want either of those two as a centerpiece.

You need one of Luzardo/Murphy as the centerpiece for sure
