    CF-Brinson/maybe Sierra?
    RF-Ramirez

I know u wanna win 63 games in 2019 but FO goal is to get to 2020. Austin Dean is in AAA getting AB's and learning 1B
My point is, unless you think you're going to get a prospect the equivalent of Austin Dean or Harold Ramirez for .180 hitting Granderson, then he's got to go. Now is the time to find out if Ramirez and Dean are major league players and they should be given every opportunity to prove it. Dean and Ramirez don't gain anything from sticking in AAA from now on.

Also, where did that 63 wins comment come from?

This is the right attitude. He was cheap enough to take a flyer on but he's clearly out of gas. Team should cut their losses and give some of those young promising outfielders and opportunity to become long-term guys.

Agreed about Dean and Ramirez but understand what they are doing. Both will be in ML in August and get there AB's. Dean is actually getting tons of 1B reps in AAA

In a perfect world, it's this in 2021:

          SP - Sixto, Alcantara/Guzman, Ca. Smith, Pablo/Gallen/Neidert/Richards, ______
RHP - Guzman/Alcantara, E. Cabrera, Holloway (most people project them as relievers), and let's say Gallen/Pablo/Neidert/Richards and N. Anderson/Elisier/Ferrell/whoever
LHP - No idea for bullpen lefties, I think they need to hammer this in this summer's trades/Rule V but they should be able to figure this out

AAA Rotation - W. Stewart, B. Garret, and T. Rogers

The blank line is reserved for a FA # 2/3 lefty SP. Paxton, Ray, etc. They have the money for that and two bats.

I'm not seeing much "excess" to trade here. Urena (and Romo/Steck/Conley), maybe 1-2 of Pablo/Gallen/Neidert/Richards in at least 365 days from today (and that's assuming at least 3 of them work out into valuable # 4 or better SP), and maybe a few nominal RP, like if Guerrero, Brice, or whoever aren't needed at random points.

They have some real depth emerging here, but it's no where near the level where they have a deep longterm rotation figured out plus adequate minor league reserves. Let alone, lefties are a semi-important issue right now. Chances are, 2+ of those guys above will have major injuries in the next 2 years and will be cast way down the depth chart.

They have just enough here as I see it, and it's eyes on the prize of a competitive 2021.

The bat solution is easy - Rendon and Didi next year. They have the money. Go for it. Then god willingly trade deadline 2020, they can do a Tommy Pham style trade and start bulking up for 2021 and if they still need bats then, Neil Walker cost you nothing this year and sign a few of those.
LHR options are plentiful-Quijada,Dylan Lee,Kinley,Mills,Mader,Rule 5 guys,Claim Biddle,Castano,Sean Guenther, make Trevor Rogers a RP NO one is gonna be a star but lots of options

Clearly need lefties. Maybe in a "best" case scenario where Rogers isn't a SP (which is not a best case scenario), they still need to get an alpha bullpen lefty and Rogers and one of the other guys turn into 2-3 pen lefties. I mean, they should be able to figure this out, but it is a need.

This just goes back to, stay the course. Trade the veterans at the deadline for BPA, preferably bats and lefty arms, go big in free agency with bats ala Jayson Werth, and see how all the pitchers are doing July 15th next year to make an opportunistic trade if possible.

The Rays did this completely right with how they got Pham, Meadows, Glasnow, and Beeks.

Its a need but there are options. If they have 8 or 9 SP why not try Rogers as a Alpha Pen Lefty? See if he becomes Andrew Miller

Exactly on the course-dont worry about stuff yet. Trade the 8 guys for stuff in future.

1 thing the Rays do better than anyone is know when to trade guys. We could have gotten nice offers for 3 RP at last deadline but we asked for crazy prices instead of trading them for solid packages. Its like Urena-could we get a solid 3 guy package this year who wants a controllable arm? Instead of dealing him now for that we will ask SD or NYY for a Top 3 prospect. They will say NO and in 2020 Gallen or Neidert will replace him in the rotation and we will end up DFA or non tender him. If this was TB they would ask for a controllable ML arm and 2 Top 20 prospects who they like and soon as get it deal is done

Same thing with Rojas-NYY called on him and FO asked for some crazy ass offer even tho by 2021 he is probably gone

To be honest it's the first time I see them announcing in the big screen. I've seen them giving it away but not how to participate. Anyway, it was right before the game after the Anthem. They came to get me mid 1 inning and we had to run to our seats right behind home plate to be shown on the big screen with the mermaids lol. It was a nice experience being upgraded from our $8 seats to the $200 seats.

I'll have to pay attention to that next time I go. It had to be on Twitter? I don't have one.

Sure, but they are a long ways from having 8-9 SP. They are at maybe two with Caleb and Pablo. Let's get another 25-30 starts/150 IP down the road with everyone.

I tend to feel the same, but then I take in the fact that five of Urena's last six starts have of the high quality variety. He's always proven durable as well.

I can only assume reps at 1B (check out box scores, TJ mentioned also. He is playing frequently at 1B).

Let's be real here, with all the flyballs in baseball and spacious Marlins park, they can't have any slugs in the outfield anymore. It's why everyone is turning Ketel, Senzel, etc. (i.e., super athletes) into outfielders. There is real value in having rangy defensive OF in a new flyball era of baseball, and how Kepler/Gardner turn into 2.5 WAR players with sub .725 OPS. It helps to explain Dietrich also on a positional level. The writing is on the wall here of what they want to do, even if they presumably missed on some bats in the trades.

Dean's not a good outfield defender. It's probably going to make him a replacement level player even if he hits (unless he goes all Vogelbach on everyone). If he's going to make it, turning him into a 1B is a good idea to me. The bat looks ready, but as frustrating as the MLB squad is, they need to evaluate Dean as a longterm asset to the best they can and it seems like a 1B conversion is the answer. Once Walker is gone, I highly suspect he takes over there so long as Cooper still is doing nothing.

On the other hand, Dean is certainly a "rangier" OF than Garrett Cooper (and certainly hits better from all I've seen). By the numbers, Austin Dean was the third speediest Marlin in 2018, behind only Brinson and Realmuto. On this year's team, I would assume that only Herrera and maybe Berti are faster. I'm not suggesting that Dean has prize-winning instincts out there, or a trophy arm, but there should certainly be room for one of AAA's elite bats on the worst hitting team in baseball. As far as fielding percentage goes, Dean's MiLB numbers are basically the same as Brinson, Harrison, and Harold Ramirez.

Dean didn't play yesterday in AAA and Craig Mish was hinting on Twitter that he was going to be called up with the need for a DH in Detroit. It'll be interesting to see who goes down.
