While Brad Hand gets beat every game, but those AA relievers we get for him will be exciting.

going hitless for 52 at bats would put Dee at .300. Hitting .250 from here on out it would take 312 at bats to be at .300. Hitting ~.270 puts him at .300 at the end of the season. Unless he's improved his game by a lot this year, he's probably going to suck for a significant portion of the rest of the season.

Nicolino or Urena will have the same or better probability of winning games than Haren.

He has a 2.68 ERA. I'm sure he's getting really lucky, but it's just this weird thing we always do around here.
Still waiting on Nolasco's breakout season.

The thing is, I think you could say Gordon has changed his game. I know a lot of what Rich and Tommy say on the broadcasts are BS but they made a good point in regards to Gordon and that's the quality of the hits he's getting, unlike in LA. He looks a lot like Christian Yelich did last season in terms of a lot of hard hit line drives as opposed to bunt singles and dribblers that turn into singles. Plus, the longer this continues (we're at 130 PAs right now) the larger the sample size becomes. 130 is not a huge sample size but it's big enough that I'm not willing to write a .430 batting average as a complete fluke.
The number itself is, admittedly, ridiculous and I think it's absurd to even suggest Gordon will hit near .400 or even .350 the rest of the way. however, even with regression seeing Gordon as a .250 hitter the rest of the season seems unlikely to me considering we've seen nothing this season to suggest that this isn't partly sustainable. This isn't like Haren and Latos who get balls smacked across the park and they just so happened to be hit at people and this isn't like Emilio Bonifacio start from awhile back where he hit .500 for awhile and was back to .240 in mid-may. Gordon has shown that he is a very good player and has done it in a way that can still produce hits even when the BABIP goes back down.Last edited by thatnewguy; 05-08-2015, 12:50 AM.

But if you're doing this thing because you don't want Brad Hand in the rotation because you think Dan Haren is going to "win games" like your post suggests, then you're going to have a bad time.Last edited by Mainge; 05-08-2015, 12:49 AM.
