He gave up one hard hit (the homer). Other than that, he gave up a seeing-eyed single, a bloop hit to shallow left, a clean, but not hard hit single to center and an infield single. Uggla blew but could have been a double play which would have changed the first inning significantly and this umpire has the strike zone of a pin cushion. He was more unlucky today than bad.
Yes, he didn't have his best command but it's been a full week since he last pitched and, when he missed, he missed down. He was also able to throw his curve and changeup for strikes which he probably should have thrown more of.
Besides, it's not like Miller, Martinez and Meyer are having much better success.Comment
