Damn Salty made me upset this game. Just about the worst game a player could have. 99% of the lineup just didn't show up today. Worst is that a really good Alvarez game and lights out bullpen work got wasted.

John Jaso is a perfect example of how Saltalamacchia should be used.
He has a .793/.510 platoon split. He faced LHP in just 7.8 percent of his at-bats last season and 11.6 the previous. He also rates out as a negative presence defensively by both B-R and FanGraphs.
His WAR the last two years: 1.2-1.6
It's not that hard to hide a catcher who can't hit LHP.

Again, the issue isn't -- or shouldn't be -- Saltalamacchia. He's not the only limited player in the majors. The issue is a roster that isn't put together in a way that allows you to hide his glaring weakness.poop
