just as we all expected today, zach thompson as a hitter has more hits today than he gave up to Freeman, Acuna, and Albies combined. finish this off lets go boys.

maybe not as much right now without Anderson and Rojas but our infield defense is really fucking good.

at the very least bender needs to start being in the set up man role. if we're being super aggressive, yimi hasn't exactly choked over the closers role, but if Bender can continue to perform well and do it in the closers role, I think everyone being moved down 1 spot in the bullpen pecking order might do all of them so good.

Bender now up to 15.1 IP with 0 ER to start his career, good control with an 18/4 K/BB ration, and his slider looks absolutely nasty. looking like a big time steal as a minor league free agent.

heres an idea- stop using bass in the fucking 8th already. keep him in the mid innings. bender has proven he deserves a chance for these types of outings and bass has proven that he doesn't deserve a chance at this point.

I’m assuming Yimi is unavailable today since Mattingly thought it was a bright idea to use him in an 11-4 game on Thursday night. Would be his 3rd day in a row so I’m guessing that’s why it’s B(ass) in the 8th, meaning probably Floro in the 9th.

Bass sucks plain and simple.

he doesnt suck necessarily, he just isn't a high leverage pitcher. he is a decent middle reliever guy but trying to get big important outs from him will lead to pain. bender needs to be promoted in the pecking order and id like to see curtiss a lot more in higher leverage situations. to me its simple, promote bender, give curtiss more of a set up role instead of middle/long relief, and move bass back to a 6th or 7th inning role or mop up duty.

bass desperately needs to limit any more base runners here so that we can get the bottom of the order and avoid acuna in the 9th.

so its swanson, almonte, and contreras to start the 9th, then another 2 bottom of the order spots before you even get to acuna. pretty much the best case scenario to close it out

for a bullpen full of guys with good numbers in a pretty good sample, I sure as hell don't trust many of them down there in a tight game.
