    • Is it just me or does Thompson look a lot like Aaron Harang? Not necessarily the way he pitches, but as a look alike.

It's his business but the people around the team keep saying he's been going through some sort of off the field family issues since he got here. Would be interested to see what that could possibly be to make him go from the player he was before to what he has been here.
He's kind of like the anti-Starling Marte.

Marte is above average at everything, and Dickerson seems to not have one above average skill lol.

        • I think you pull Thompson. Great job getting us here but let’s not press our luck.

          • was just thinking about the starling trade at the deadline and just realized how well they've done at the deadline each of the last 2 years but in different ways. 2 years ago they had the anderson/richards deal that got Sanchez. Obviously haven't seen him yet but got a top prospect and finally sold high on a reliever after seeing Steckenrider and conley go from pieces they could deal to non tender guys. Then they also intelligently dealt from a strength at SP with Gallen and got what looks to be the face of the franchise moving forward in Jazz. Then last year they essentially gave up nothing of value to our organization and got a great OF for multiple years and decent money. Really solid moves.

completely agree. I think fried might be due up first so I could understand leaving him in for the pitchers spot but definitely don't let acuna see him the 3rd time. Might make more sense to pull him and let a reliever start an inning clean.

              • if we could use duvall as our starting outfielder that plays exclusively against Atlanta we might be on to something.

                • thompson hitting here but mattingly has shown he has no idea how to handle the mid game pitchers spot coming up in the lineup this year so maybe he plans on taking him out anyways

                  • ive never seen any team get picked off this often. what in the fuck it going on? Even if this is overturned?

                    • that kinda looked like a balk. he started to move toward the plate from what I saw.

                      • Getting picked off with the pitcher up, amazing.

                        • whats the record for pickoffs in a season since like 2000? We've got to be on pace to either break the record or get close.

                          • i guess he could only do so much damage if no one is on but I would not let thompson pitch to acuna even if he's up with 2 outs. Leaves Mattingly an awful decision between risking it or bringing in a reliever and then either having to immediately pinch hit for the guy or waste an AB on a reliever. What an absolutely idiotic pick off

                            • wow. Great outing for thompson. huge. every non sandy pablo or rogers game we can take is enormous. need to finish this one off today. but 100% pinch hit for Thompson here.

                              • lets fucking go Diaz. good for him. IDK if it points to maybe a lower ceiling than we thought or if it means he can make an adjustment and get even better, but even going back to the videos I saw of him in the twins organization when we traded for him, even when he hits homers he looks like he just misses crushing the pitch even more.
