When is the last time Pablo pitched?

i believe it was the last game of that braves series on thursday to end the regular season. I would go Pablo in game 1 if it was a 7 game series but given that its only 5 we need sandy to go game 1, then have him ready to start a potential game 5. I'd go Sandy, Pablo, Sixto, Cabrera/Rogers, Sandy (with everyone available out of the pen in a winner take all game).

The more i look into the series the more i love our chances. This is different than a regular season 3 game series or even a normal 5 game playoff series because its 5 straight days with no off days and the weakness of the braves is their rotation. They wont get the benefit of having more than 1 guy start more than 1 game in the series, so you're gonna see a lot of Ian Anderson, Kyle Wright, and who the hell knows who their game 4 guy would be.

Additionally, most of the damage that people will allude to from our regular season matchups with the braves came in situations where mattingly either just said fuck it to certain games or had no choice but to use the shit part of the bullpen due to the nature of our schedule. You're not gonna be trying to just eat innings to get to the next day with guys like Yamamoto, Josh Smith, Urena, etc. Now, we got our best pitchers lined up perfectly, we're not gonna be throwing games or allowing games to get away due to the grind of the regular season, and they are super banged up in the rotation all year since Soroka went down.

Just looking at Sandy's game log and realizing the braves havent faced him yet this year. Given how often we've played them this year he has to be the game 1 guy now. Pablo faced them three times and had 2 good outings and he started the game where we ended up giving up 29 runs. Id go with him game 2 but have him on a pretty tight leash as pablo is prone to big innings and has had trouble getting past the 6th inning. Then go for the wild card in sixto in game 3 and hope he adjusts to them after they adjusted to him the 2nd time seeing him

I don't think anybody knows. Unfortunately I don't think anyone ever had any interaction with him outside this board. You would think he would've made an appearance during this crazy season at some point.

I think you have to start Sandy game 1 for many reasons, including having him for a potential game 5. I don't see a world in which I let Cabrera make his big league debut in the rotation, but I'd love him out of the bullpen. That said, Rogers in a potential game 4 terrifies me.

Rogers has a 3.67 xFIP. He’s been much better than his ERA would indicate.

I’d go Cabrera every single time over Rogers in a game 4. Rogers peripherals don’t seem to paint the entire picture of how shaky he has been. I’d prefer Cabrera’s stuff against guys who have never seen him before

I have a bad feeling. I pray he's ok but he was consistently here or the other site for years and i know he was older. Hopefully he's just enjoying the marlins runs somewhere safe and has his detailed 5 year salary ramifications posts ready to go at a moments notice.

So its sandy vs. Fried for game 1, Pablo vs. Ian anderson game 2, then we have Sixto against Kyle Wright for game 3. Honestly love those matchups for us. Getting game 1 is always enormous but even moreso against this particular braves rotation in this unique 5 games in 5 days series. If. you can knock him off in game 1 with no off days and no realistic shot for him to pitch until game 5 on short rest, you gotta like our chances.

I hope mattingly continues to use our bullpen like he did in chicago. Cut the shit and dont get cute, go to the guys you can count on out of there which is essentially Yimi, Bleier, Kintzler, Boxburger, and Hoyt. We're obviously gonna need to figure out game 4 so I think I try to combine Cabrera making his ML debut with trying to piece together a couple of rogers innings on a short leash. Cabrera is the choice there because of the lack of familiarity and his plus plus velocity I think can give us a huge quality start.

I'm so excited for this series and so excited we are in the division series instead of talking about how we can get this team to be a contender in 3 years.

As far as their lineup, it goes without saying that you have to make the other guys beat you. Freddie Freeman absolutely murders us so i'd pitch around him as much as possible. If their other guys beat us chalk it up to baseball and go on with life. Don't let their best guys beat you.

With our lineup, I'm cool with keeping up what we've been doing. Dickerson leading off, Marte in CF, Aguilar, Cooper, Anderson, Joyce/Brinson (yes im cool with joyce now, in playoff situations i trust his decent plate discipline and he's a steady glove out there), Rojas (should be higher but i love the bat he gives the bottom of the lineup), Wallach, Berti/Jazz (berti mostly as he makes good contact.). Then use monte as your secret running weapon off the bench late in games and as a defensive replacement.

Any word on whether marte will be ready? i get the bad feeling it's gonna be more of the same in that he is only gonna be available to pinch run which means he probably wont play much with monte already filling that role. Him healthy or at least able to play would be enormous.

this is the latest on marte- Don Mattingly says Starling Marte is still getting treatment on his pinky finger. They haven’t decided if he’ll be on the NLDS roster. The deadline is tomorrow at 10 A.M.

Id leave him on if there is even the slightest chance of him playing. WE have expanded rosters anyways, leave open the possibility.

As others have mentioned, he hasn't been here or the other site, which is naturally concerning - obviously folks can be off forums for a bit, but seems unusual for this long with the team doing how it's been doing.

I hope he's ok. Maybe I'll ask around in the other site in hopes that someone there has contact outside of the forums...

Did some research and found out that the last post of his I found here was May 28th, and January 11 on the other site.

I reached out over there to see if anyone knows anything. I'll keep ya'll posted if anything is found out.
