Volstad is not a good pitcher.. He cannot get deep into games and always has the one blow up inning where he forgets where the strikezone is.. Whether he was gassed or not.. He only threw 80 fuckin pitches!

Also JJ and Ricky for yrs have pitched well and have gone deep into games. For yrs Volstad has not.

Decent play by Hanley. I like his aggressiveness this evening, even though he got thrown out by a mile trying to steal 3rd.

Volstad has had almost exactly the same ERA's as Ricky the last two years but Ricky is awesome and Volstad sucks.

        ERA's last two years

        Nolasco/2010/4.51
        Volstad/2010/4.58

And Volstad hasn't pitched since last Tuesday and was just on the bases after the error in the bottom of the 5th. Yeah, he's probably tired.

But no one hear gives a fuck. All anyone hear wants to focus on is the negative stuff so they can say Volstad sucks.

Very reasonable arguments can be made that Nolasco has pitched better than his numbers indicate. The same cannot be said (by anyone but you) for Volstad.

And shut up. I defend Volstad as much as anyone but you. He just isn't very good, and he fucked up what should have been an easy night for him to shut people up tonight. Rather than make every excuse possible, why not try to be rational for one fucking second and recognizerwhen he is deserving of criticism.

Can't get deep into games? For their careers, Ricky has 4 complete games (1 shutout), JJ has 4 (no shutouts), Volstad has 3 (2 shutouts).

He's 24 years old. You seriously think that his baseball career has peaked and he's supposed to be perfect at 24? There's a ton of pitchers in the majors that are just making their debuts at 24.

I don't even know why I bother with this. Nobody here gives a shit.

Not pitching for 10 days made his arm tired?

This is a sentence I can get behind.

Again, Hugg, he was just on base the previous inning and sprinted to second on the error.

I only was able to start following visually in the 5th, but it seems like Volstad was back to not looking at the runners. This is upsetting.

This may come as a shock to you, but I do recognize when he deserves criticism. I did not say one word in his defense after his last start in Atlanta. I just don't think he pitched as badly today as everyone makes him out to have been. Everyone was bashing him after the homer. Had Ricky or JJ given up that homer, nobody says anything. But everyone was already on his case before the game started so he is the worst pitcher that ever lived because he gave up a solo homer.

                        • I don't know who doesn't slam Ricky after one of those starts. And JJ has had like 4 starts in 3 years that he's given up 5 runs if I heard that correctly.

                          • I think it's also fair to say that JJ has earned a bit of leeway if he decides to give up an isolated HR

For most of the night, he did not pitch particularly poorly.

But he did pitch poorly enough to give up 4 ER in 5.1 innings, so on the whole, he pitched poorly.
