On the Atlanta telecast, early in the game, before the rain delay, Joe Simpson mentioned how the on-deck circles were so close in Sun Life Stadium that if Bonifacio were to foul a pitch off, Morrison would have no time to react. Seriously.

They are much closer in the new stadium so it would have taken his head off.

From the look of the replay, the runner at 1st was stil running back so Maybin was throwing in there looking for a potential double play. He just didn't put enough on the throw to get it in there.

Isn't that the normal move on a play like that? How many OFers would be consciously worried that the guy on 2nd is going to tag up and score?

In a bases loaded situation? The runner on second was going to advance anyways. Throwing it to first with nothing on it/missing the cutoff is going to allow any runner to score. Especially since Maybin could not position himself in time to get something on the throw in one of the deepest CFs in baseball.
