There's not much to defend about Stanton's bat right now, and we could conceivably replace him fairly easily. The reason you keep him up is not because we don't have anyone better. He's been sub replacement level.

Definitely, not that hes more successful, but I feel like he nibbles less and works a little faster. I still dislike watching Chris throw even if he's not sucking, just something about the way he pitches to hitters.

That may be true, but I can't believe this flailing and failing he's doing is good for his development. If someone's going to come up to the bigs and suck, better it be a more disposable prospect like Peterson or Cousins or, really, anyone else but Stanton.

I mean, hopefully this doesn't affect him in the long run (Cogs had a miserable start to his career and rebounded fine). All the stories about him are that he's a hard worker with excellent make up. But if the possibility is there that these struggles are going to affect him in the long it's better not to "ruin" him (or however you want to put htat) by leaving him up here to strikeout 2-3 times per game.
