It's spring training. He had almost 4 months to clear his head. Clean slate.

This is a bit ridiculous. I know everyone likes to rag on you for your love of Volstad and that's cool but he definitely has to worry you a little bit.

His numbers from year 1 to year 2 all declined and he hasn't done much in the spring to suggest things will be changing in 2010. Yes, he's throwing a ton of strikes but who the hell cares what he's throwing if he's still giving up the long ball at an alarming rate.

He's still extremely young and I'm not writing him off at all, but he hasn't done much in the spring to make me believe he'll be a nice #3 this season.

Yes his last outing was bad but that was because he was trying to throw the slider a lot. None of us saw this game since it was not televised and none of us were there. I'm trying to wait until we hear something from him about what happened. Maybe he was working on the slider again. Maybe he missed his spot on some pitches. We don't know yet. We didn't get any of that information from the radio broadcast.

Every single pitcher in ST that gets shelled replies with "I was working on some stuff". That's the way it goes.

Just like every hitter comes into ST saying they are in the best shape of their life, or they are on a new meat only diet or they got laser eye surgery.

It's all bullocks.

This is like last year, me (among others) wanting Bonifacio to fail, yet the Marlins to still win games.

So I'm biased. I admit it. I've just been following Volstad since he was drafted and know he's good. I am not the only person on here with a favorite player but am one of the few that gets bashed for it at every opportunity.
