Understand it but Devers will be breathing down his neck next year. 99.9% they won't do this but why not call Devers up and let him play 2B???? He has to be on 40 man next year anyways

Villar to MIF and Monte in CF

Brinson/Monte/Joyce/Snider all will be up for OF/DH

So at least 11 active players are left unaccounted for...I would guess at least 5 or 6 of those are RP just based off of who they have added so far.

Hopefully they have enough SP and offense left to just stay afloat for another 10 days or so....and the season doesn't get cancelled. Although, I am not buying the Manfred threat at this point...

As far as the timing for resuming the season, one thing not mentioned yet is this hurricane. The weather forecast in Baltimore Monday and Tuesday right now is not good. If they want to get those games in, I wonder if they would consider playing them in Miami instead. Otherwise, the best they may be able to do is a DH on Wednesday in Baltimore.
No chance-the plan is BUS to Baltimore/Bus to NY/Bus to Buffalo then fly back to Miami where hopefully some of the Rona guys are back

    • Can’t blame Diaz, especially with Heyman reporting family concerns. But like TJ pointed out, it’s not like his job is super safe going into next year. Jazz will be ready, and they’ll have plenty of 2B options with Devers, Rojas, or perhaps Villar.

      • his job will be safe next year 100%. devers is a slap hitter. maybe in 3 years he can be rojas lite.

why was bleier available? his numbers were phenomenal in the majors aside from last year.

You know I've been a strong supporter of Isan, but I strongly disagree here. What if Villar has a big rest of the season and we decide to bring him back? What if Jazz establishes himself as the SS but Rojas continues to improve and is still under contract? There are quite a few scenarios where 2nd Base is no longer waiting for him.

Yup...and I really like Isan. He just hasn’t done enough to say with any certainty that he has a job waiting for him next year.

Yeah but now the league is considering a cancellation because the Cardinals have 6 cases.

How fitting — it hasn’t been important with our 20 cases this week.

1 more Cards player and 3 staff is today's count for them according to Heyman. They at least had the benefit of the league stepping in and cancelling their game yesterday, so maybe that will make some difference. Either way, I don't see nearly the hate on Twitter aimed at them as the Marlins got, which is ridiculous. This could happen to any team.

As for the rest of the season, I would think that the league would give this some more time after issuing a warning yesterday. Surely, they knew that more positives were coming for St. Louis. What would be the point of issuing the warning and tightening measures if you aren't going to give them any time to take effect? I think they give this another week or two to work then pull the plug if this continues to occur.

I was thinking the same thing, Marlins get have 21 Cases, Manfred: we're not even thinking about shutting down the league, Cardinals get 2 cases (now more), Manfred: we're thinking about shutting down the league.

You also said it wouldn't get started at all.

and it should not have been clearly. this was so obvious from the beginning without a bubble. at no point was this going to work with the virus out of control in the country no matter how many awful comparisons to south korea are made

                          • Craig Mish tweets that when the season resumes, Villar is healthy and will be at SS with Eddy Alvarez at 2nd....or the other way around.
