Miami is still looking at DFA with arms(Heard the arms are alot of the positive tests) and vets the priority. They expect the "new" guys to only be around till 8/13 so 12 days

"Minor league" guys are Yamamoto/Joyce/Monte/Brinson/Eddy Alvarez/Josh A Smith/Maybe a C or 2 and Travis Snider. Looking at Rob Brantly/Terrence Gore/James Hoyt/Jordan Humphreys/Tyler Bashlor/Dany Jimenez. They have also called the NYY and 3 other teams asking about trading cash for arms

Looking at Hanley/Jason Vargas/Puig and few FA arms but not sure if they are in shape for season yet

They should have enough guys for a 25-30 man team
Would they not need any of the guys they are bringing signed and in Florida by today or tomorrow? If they are to play in Baltimore Monday or Tuesday, you'd think they need to be brought in and cleared very soon.

According to the report, they are bringing in sleeper buses. So while it is not ideal, at least they will be back in Florida and not stuck in a hotel.

They are clearing them in Jupiter and then flying them all up. Probably already have 10-12 guys doing sim games in Jupiter(Guys claimed are in Jupiter as are FA signed) just waiting to go the go ahead

Are actually still gonna be stuck in a hotel just nicer one in Miami.

Right, but if they are adding more players, either DFAs or other Free Agents, would they not need them here today or tomorrow? So far all that has been reported has been the 3 DFA arms, Forsythe, and the 2 guys from yesterday. They probably need another 4 to 6 players.

        • The Diaz news doesn't shock me. He was one who appeared to be masking more often than others during the series against the Phillies. He might've even done it in the field or at bat.

          • Seems that news will soon be forthcoming regarding Marlin players violation of virus protocols during Atlanta trip. I expect this will get ugly for the home team. After missing months of baseball and the huge effort to sustain a season, it seems players disregarded it all.

Why hasn't anything come out either yes or no they went out on the town in Atlanta...the longer it goes with no comment the more you have to believe it's true.....and the teams has some really DUMB idiots playing for them. This is so not Jeter, he was always Mr Perfect....he must be really hurt & pissed off....

I haven't heard of any instance where an athlete suffered much from the symptoms. Of course it's another story if he has a condition that would make the virus a serious threat to him.
or perhaps a family member ? It's not only about the athletes Lee, there is more to consider

Ideally that's true and I think they should stay in Philly but if they are leaving tomorrow on a bus, the reason why might be Hurricane Isaias....just a thought

              • It’s weird to me that everyone is focusing on what happened in Atlanta and nobody points out that Alfaro tested positive either Thursday or Friday from a test likely done on Wednesday. That would mean he was infected when they flew to Atlanta, was in the clubhouse, played, and then flew with the team to Philly. Everyone is looking for something the Marlins did wrong, but isn’t it just as, if not more likely this happened because of the lag in testing starting with players coming from Miami?

Also, isn't it pretty clear that Alfaro is patient zero? Can't we just find out what he was up to. And what of the Atlanta Catchers that got sick, unrelated?

The Miami Marlins today acquired LHP Richard Bleier from BAL in exchange for a PTBNL or cash considerations. Bleier, who is from Miami Beach, FL, owns an 8-1 record and 2.99 ERA (177.1 ip/59 er) in 166 career G (1 start) w/ NYY & BAL. Has appeared in 2 G this season (0-0, 0.00).

All it took was pandemic to finally get rid of Conley Bleier is 33 and strikes NO one but is a groundball pitcher. He will be waiting in Baltimore for when the team comes

That’s the 5th reliever added. The bullpen has to have been decimated by the virus.

Yep thats what I have heard but looks like this was for future too. They would like to add SP its just RP have been only stuff DFA.Also they seem to be OK with SP-have 3 or 4 SP and Yamamoto/Josh A Smith

No more Conley. LH in Pen for 2021 are Bleier/Tarpley/Vesia/Rogers? He is 33 but LHP who pitch like him can go into 40's

I just posted this because of this in exchange for a PTBNL or cash considerations

All reports are PTBNL but I heard they were calling and talking to teams about BUYING players. Just like the Lewin trade I think its gonna be for cash eventually which is even a better trade for us

Yeah, just looking at Bleier's numbers, he doesn't seem to just be a virus replacement. He was apparently not fully healthy last year, but has been a pretty reliable reliever the rest of his career.

As for SP, hopefully we still have Smith, Lopez, and Hernandez available...or at least 2 of them. They could probably get by for a couple of weeks if they have those 3, plus Yamamoto, Dugger, and Neidert.

Ya I wont give specific names(since not 100% on guys) but we have atleast 3 or 4 SP who are ok and also Yamamoto/Josh A Smith who can start. Lets just say they need pitching and LOTS of it

They probably need another 5 guys still but they can play Monday/Tuesday in Baltimore if all are clear finally. Should get reports today about 10-12 guys in Jupiter flying up to Baltimore

Bleier should be here for years IF he looks good

We know for sure there are 18 players infected, 2 of which are SP, and 4 position players. That leaves 12 other players, but I think I read at least 1 is on the taxi squad. So at least 11 active players are left unaccounted for...I would guess at least 5 or 6 of those are RP just based off of who they have added so far.

Hopefully they have enough SP and offense left to just stay afloat for another 10 days or so....and the season doesn't get cancelled. Although, I am not buying the Manfred threat at this point...

As far as the timing for resuming the season, one thing not mentioned yet is this hurricane. The weather forecast in Baltimore Monday and Tuesday right now is not good. If they want to get those games in, I wonder if they would consider playing them in Miami instead. Otherwise, the best they may be able to do is a DH on Wednesday in Baltimore.
