Rays to Explore Splitting Games with Montreal.....any Reason to Worry ?
Hey Madaawg, Fangraphs has the Marlins winning 61 games this year. Let that sink in for a moment.
In other words, over 43??? Ok im done now.
He's gonna be off by a combined like 60 games over the course of 2 years. That is really hard to do even if you just take a blind stab at guessing a number without seeing a roster.

they still stink, and we just wait for the trades to start happening. You guys kill the messenger, instead of trying to understand the message
No one trusts Jeter & Sherman (except you guys) to build the team to win, just to trade assets & keep the payroll low forever. Jeter said it already.....it's about sustainability, not winning.

Still means a 10th year of losing baseball, 16 years of no playoffs, no hitting in the minors, pitchers that can't stay healthy.....but hey you guys think this rebuild is gonna work. I'm like most people in Miami, we know it won't, it's the Marlins - we just wait for the trades.
6 winning seasons in 27....that's one of the worst in sports only topped by the Florida Panthers....3 playoff appearances in 26 years.
South Florida fans aren't bad they been beaten into not caring by some of the worst owners & coaching ever in professional sports.
Most of you guys don't live here & don't see how hated the Marlins are, or people just don't care. They could win a WS & 100 games in a season, and people will be asking "Who are they trading tomorrow ?"
But been watching them for 27 years, and I'm loyal. Won't switch unless they move then back to being a Braves & Angels fan
also what a truly stupid idea that has 0 chance of ever coming to fruition.

this seems like something MLB is doing or the rays are doing in an attempt to try to put leverage on city officials for a new stadium
Billionaire owners should build their own stadiums.....subsidizing billionaires is not in political fashion these days. Taxpayers are tired of being hosed by the rich.
With fans like maddawg who needs enemies. You’re a troll plain and simple. Just follow another fucking team.

Also, coming with the news we want to ignore? This has nothing to do with us, and the marlins already have a stadium and I don’t believe are allowed to leave for like another 30 years minimum
As has been pointed out, this is just a leverage move to get St. Pete/Tampa to push either toward a stadium deal, or to just move the team completely. This split season thing will never happen. I mean, they can't get a single stadium built, and under this idea, they want TWO built in two cities that'll get the team half the time. Not happening.
The Marlins have a lease with Miami-Dade County through 2042. They are safe for now.
The split season won’t ever work because it’s a logistical nightmare, and as already been pointed out would involve building two $800 million ballparks and convincing each city its worth it for only 30+ home dates each.
IF the Rays were to move, it would be a great opportunity for the Marlins to strengthen their position throughout the state and benefit financially via the TV contract. But it would involve making some strategic moves to increase their presence throughout the state. The Marlins lease at Roger Dean ends 2027. Maybe that would involve establishing a ST facility along the I-4 corridor? Going back to Florida Marlins is likely out of the question per their lease with MDC, but could they sidestep it with more retro nights? Do you play a series in Orlando?
Here's the press conference from Stu Sternberg about the idea.
Basically they haven't talked to either city, they don't have financing, they don't have a name, they want two new open air ballparks from two cities when they can't get money from one for a single park, but Manfred and the owners gave them permission to explore this.
He seemed pretty adamant that there's no 'plan B' of keeping the team in Tampa for a full season - not in St. Pete, not in Ybor, or Tampa Bay.
He said a renovation/expansion of "Al Lang Stadium" is a possibility for the new Tampa park.
He claims it won't be a prolonged exit from Tampa, but I just don't see this working or being a viable thing.

You call me a troll, but I'm just a fan that expresses my opinions. I have that right here unless I break the board rules. A troll would call people names, disrupt the board with spam, etc. None of which I have done. You, on the other hand, have often called me and others names & derogatory terms many, many times, which is actually a trollish behavior....can we say projection ?
As for telling me to go follow another team, again I tell you, you have no right to ask someone to do that, and you seem to have as thin a skin as the Lying Bastard-in-Chief - you know the one with the #tRumpcamps ?
The one thing I treasure is loyalty and my giving loyalty. I have been a Marlins fan from the beginning. I was already married for 8½ years & widowed for 2 when the Marlins were a thought in Huizenga's mind. You completely misinterpret my intentions - by your sugar coating of the HORRENDOUS ownership, we've had. 4 owners, 3 of which are/were pathological liars.
The newest owners just came right in, guns ablazin', and fired 4 legends, then realized their mistake & did a token amount of money to try to get them back which was really insulting them. One of which was even nicknamed "Mr Marlin". Right out of the gate a huge PR blunder. Then he proceeds to dismantle the team, and it needed to be done, but it was done in a very cold & brutal way.
Regardless of the reasons to do it, it just looks BAD to trade away back-to-back MVP's. And Yelich may make it, back-to-back-to-back MVP's. When you are trying to build loyalty & lure a fanbase back it's just a COLOSSAL PR nightmare. Why should fans trust this ownership won't do the same when articles like this come out......
Why should fans or potential fans want to come back only to have the players they are growing fond of pulled out at anytime ?
You think I'm negative, well you don't see the seething hatred & derision I feel every time I wear a Marlins cap or t-shirt out in public....or even laughter and get the questions "why do you wear that ?". These are people that often used to root for the Marlins, but the Marlins chased them away many years ago, and now resent the fact that the stadium the Marlins play in, is at their expense - less firefighters, policemen etc because of the Marlins.
Say what you want, I'll still post the truth about the team because more people just read boards but don't post, and they have the right to see the good (truthful posts) or syncophantic BS rainbows & lollipops BS that you are often spreading. You're an admitted numbers nerd. WAR this, sabermetrics that....totally devoid of humaness just numbers crunched by a computer....no heart, no life just cold numbers. I've wondered before how empty must your life be that you have time to do all that.
