Marlins Fire Mike Pagliarulo After Finally Winning a Game
Someone has to take the fall because the Marlins are terrible.
Yeah easily a fall guy. The front office put together the worst lineup for the team in nearly 20 years, that lineup doesn't hit, and then they are confused why they aren't hitting.
The only real confusing hitter is Anderson who should break out this yr. But outside of that the lineup was built on over the hill old players and young players clearly not ready for primetime.
I mean Castro too but its gotta be demoralizing to be in your prime and stuck a team clearly going nowhere fast. At some point locker room morale has to hit a low.
Listening to Craig Mish's podcast from yesterday, this isn't a big shock. It was fairly obvious this was coming the way that Mish talked about how regardless of the lineup, the approach at the plate has been bad, and how disappointing it is that nobody has been hitting to even what they did last year. He said that it was going to come to a point where someone would be held accountable, and so that person is Pagliarulo.

Well, Jeter can't or won't fire himself...sooooooo....
I swear Loria is still pulling the strings, isn't he ? Because it's like things haven't changed at all....

So in June when the team is still hitting .220 or so, will Jeter finally admit he's in over his head and and that will let Sherman bring in someone with experience ?
It's all about approach. Mike wasn't doing a good job on passing that on to players. Players can suck, but they have to have a good approach.
A player's approach at the plate is developed long before they ever get to the big leagues. A hitting coach is not going to be able to overhaul a hitter's approach at the plate. They are there for slight mechanical adjustments. They can watch video and re-iterate that you're swinging at bad pitches or not being aggressive enough, but ultimately the hitter's got to make that change themselves, and when you've been playing ball for this long, not an easy thing to do.
