we've picked 4 guys. 2 catchers in the minor league phase who have absolutely god awful numbers. Good to see the team trying to add as much talent as possible whenever possible though.

This dude’s K rates are nice. I like that they are adding power arms who strike guys out - something we’ve been sorely missing.

            - - - - - - - - - -

This was from before last season:

            47. Elieser Hernandez, RHP
            Age: 21 (DOB 5/3/1995)
Fell back to earth in 2016 after a ridiculous 2015 (10.31 K/9 buoyed by a 13.06 in short season Tri-City). Still has potential to make the big leagues, but needs to figure out life at and above high A. There is time though, as he still is just 21.

then last year in high A he had 88 K in 73 IP. 3.98 ERA, 55 H, 21 BB. Not a world beater but has upside.

The other name selected in the Major League portion by the Marlins was RHP Brett Graves of the A's. The 24 year-old pitched at High-A and AA last year.

Interesting guys. Not ready but fortunately for them the team will suck. Graves was apparently at 95 last season

In the AAA phase, the Marlins selected C B.J. Lopez from Arizona. Only played in 35 games last year across three levels, OPS'ing a combined .661 in 103 at-bats. Walked more than he struck out.

They also took C Sharif Othman from the Yankees. Curiously, he's a former Marlin farmhand. Originally a 32nd round draft pick of the Fish in 2011, Othman played at AA and A+ for the Yanks last year, with a combined OPS of .610, seven homers, and 22 RBIs over the two levels.

Marlins also lost RHP Tyler Kinley to the Twins in the Major League portion of the Rule 5. Kinley played in Jupiter and Jacksonville this past year, posting a 3.54 ERA with 22 walks and 72 strikeouts over 53.1 innings.

Graves was a third round pick but has been awful his entire pro career

Two more names added in the AAA phase:

1B Will Allen III from the Tigers organization. He's listed as a catcher elsewhere, but MLB.com has him at 1B. Spent most of last year in A+, hitting .245 with nine homers and 45 RBIs in 310 at-bats. Former 13th round pick.

RHP Brandon Barker of the Orioles was next. Mostly a starter in the minors, he pitched at AA last year with a 7-5 record and a 4.67 ERA. 117.2 innings, 128 hits, 44 walks, 103 strikeouts.

He dominated high A last year going about 3 ip per start. In AA it seems they tried to stetch him out and that didnt work out and he last pitched in June likely an injury.
