  • Jeter should be at there to address the media. He doesn't always need to, but should when it involves a trade of this magnitude.

Marlins : Teams told last week Ozuna "unavailable" to drive teams appeal to Stanton to get done first. Source close to Ozuna tells me still would love to stay in Miami despite trades. Yelich ? I'm told not happy.
All trade options open for both players.

Like said about Yelich they are "listening" to offers on him. Not looking to deal him BUT have already got some interesting and good offers

It would take MORE than Adam Eaton brought-3 Top 100 Prospects and atleast 1 or 2 others OR take a big contract

Ozuna is getting ALOT of feelers(NO surprise) St Louis,LAD,SD,Toronto,Oakland so far

Why? The President of Baseball Ops/GM is here to do that

Did David Samson go to the meetings and talk trades/FA signings?

      • Jeter needs to be there. It's his first year and they just traded the NL MVP. Embarrassing.

Hopefully when they are done with the trades things start looking like a new regime.

        • adding a contract to Yelich or Ozuna is so stupid unless that contract is Chen and the team is willing to take all of it. Ziegler, Tazawa, and Volquez are done after the year and Tazawa and Ziegler could have value at the deadline if they pitch well and if not they expire at the end of the year. Volquez is a shitty situation and was given a mind boggling contract but that bullet just needs to be bitten. Prado is not going to be taken by anyone, they'd be better off waiting till either the deadline or next year and let him gain some more value either by playing well or coming closer to the end of his deal.

Chen is such a terrible contract though and if someone is willing to take the entire thing then id be willing to lessen the return for one of those guys.

Big Contract is Chen,Prado,Volquez and its NOT lessening the return. They still want 3 Top 100 prospects BUT are willing to replace the 4th/5th prospect for taking a contract.

Also, Jeter hasnt answered a question in an interesting manner his entire career, he isnt going to start now.
Of course people care what he has to say, he's running the team. And while he may not be the one who negotiated the deal, it was his directive to trade Stanton, his directive to take lesser prospects for more of Stanton's contract to be picked up, and ultimately, he had to approve the deal. And regardless of whether he has answered questions in an interesting manner or not, he deserves to be criticized for not doing so here. That's part of the job.

He's the face of a brand new regime. He needs to be there to lay out a plan to the public. Not talking to the media is a Loria move and he needs to make it clear that he's operating in a different fashion. Like I said, he doesn't have to be there every time, but the first big trade? Yeah, he needs to address it publicaly.

being willing to replace the 4th and 5th prospect for taking a contract is literally the definition of lessening the return.

If Stanton would have accepted the St Louis or SF offer the prospects wouldnt have been that bad. He called NYY and tried to get Adams,Sheffield,or Florial and then pretty much said"Why would we trade u them,u have NO other options"

U can't shit on 2 mid level prospects when Stanton was the guy who rejected the teams that Jeter wanted to trade with because they offered ALOT better prospects

U are still getting 3 Top 100 prospects. So the choice is taking some 23 yr old A Ball pitcher OR lose Martin Prado's whole contract.

Also this isn't every team-Philly,SD mostly teams with barely any payroll. Keep saying 60 Million is the Goal!!!

Samson was never the face of the organization. As much as he wanted to be.

i know, but that's the still lessening the return, as i said. That's quite literally the definition of lessening the return. For Prado id be maybe ok with doing it since his contract doesnt expire after next year, but for Ziegler, Tazawa, or Volquez that is just a Loria move and not a true rebuilding move.

Jorge Guzman #3 Prospect in Miami System
Jose Devers NR but BA listed him as Top 20 GCL Prospects

                          • “Face” of the organization is not a job title.

                            He’s a minority owner.

                            • 7 of the top 8 prospects in our organization according to mlb.com now are pitchers. 4 of which came into the organization since the draft in june through now.

Also, i understand devers is young as hell but he is 100% one of the top 30 prospects in this system as of right now.

MLB.com ranks new guys by where they were drafted or how much signed for. Kinda biased until they scout the guy themselves. Badler had him Top 20 in GCL

Guzman was #28 till he dominanted the NYPL then once they saw him they moved him up
