Any chance MLB steps in if they try dealing Stanton to LA for nothing?

I don't think they're desperate to move his salary. They can get to the salary number without moving him. They'd have to trade Yelich and Ozuna and Bour and Prado and Straily and probably lower their returns by attaching Ziegler and Volquez and Chen to those better players, but they can get there. I don't see them as desperate. And they fact that he's still here seems to back that up.

Sources: Yankees making progress on a trade for Giancarlo Stanton. One source cautioned nothing done. Another was confident it’s moving toward that. Either way, momentum for Stanton to Yankees is significant.

Btw someone mentioned to me that they dont see Boras advising Ellsbury to waive his NTC to come here. Because if they get Stanton it’ll eliminate the Yankees from the Harper market thus potentially lowering his price. It’s interesting none the less.
