  • Marlins Hall of Fame Broadcaster Felo Ramirez Has Died

Confirmed by his broadcast partner Yiki Quintana on Twitter. He suffered a fall in Delaware earlier this season on a road trip.

He had been calling baseball games since the 40s and Marlins games since the very beginning. I will post more later.

    This is truly heartbreaking.

As a member of the Cuban-American community, this is right up there with the passing of Jose Fernandez to me. I loved listening to Felo call the games. If I was in my car, I would always tune in to Radio Mambi instead of the English broadcast. Sad day.

The Herald has a great write-up on Felo's life and career. Career spanning more than 70 years, 30 World Series and All-Star Games, 40 Caribbean World Series, Don Larsen's Perfect Game, Hank Aaron's 715th home run, Roberto Clemente's 3,000 hit, two Marlins championships, every no-hitter except Volquez, Roy Halladay's perfect game, hundreds of games in Cuba, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and box matches including most of Ali's major fights.

My summers will never be the same again. It was like having your grandfather call the games every night.

            Damn, Party.

When you say it like that it's even more sad.
