the trevor williams for 2 nobodies who were fired within a few years is another gem that rarely gets talked about. Not like williams wasnt a relatively high draft pick either. Just abject stupidity in the previous ownership group.

Paddock-Dealt because SD called Jeff directly and he didn't see Paddock's name on the BA Top 10
Castillo-Dealt because Miami scouting(BENEDICT/Del Piano) saw him as a RP
Trevor Williams-Dealt because Pitt wanted something in return for Benedict and Del Piano
German-Dealt to NYY but got Pablo in return
We didn’t get Pablo in return for German.

I'm pretty sure he means since the trade was effectively Prado/Phelps for Eovaldi/German, and Phelps turned into Pablo in another trade, German eventually turned into Pablo.

This was actually a pretty great trade for the Marlins. They did get 10 WAR out of Prado/Phelps 15-16, and Phelps did turn into Pablo. Prado resigned after 2016 so we don't really need to value 2017-now in that deal.

I'd do this trade again in a heartbeat knowing Pablo is coming on the backend. That one isn't an issue. They did good here.

Paddack is still the worst one. By a lot. At least Straily had some good years when he was healthy and had some years of control. Rodney was nowhere near even that.
