Figurehead, especially since we have the same decision-makers in the same positions. Mike Hill and Dan Jennings reflect the same type of management as they were directly under him in the first place. Not to mention that nothing will change with Loria really being the final decision maker.

Loria has already had the replacement locked in like 2-3 weeks ago.

Dumbest organization in sports? Gotta be up there, right?

Christ if Wally Backman becomes the manager of this team, I'm giving up.

Yep, this is a Loria firing obviously. He's wanted Wally Backman since April and it seems obvious. He loved Ozzie, was the main guy fighting for Bobby Valentine, and now wants Backman. I have no idea what kind of manager Backman is, but from the videos it seems like he's a guy who just likes to yell and scream and is overall just an A-Hole who wants the game to be about himself.

But 6 games under .500 is probably a bit low for this team, even if the starting rotation was poorly put together and some guys in the lineup are underperforming. Probably will put at least a little fire under the team moving forward, and firing the manager in May as opposed to doing it in June or July gives the new manager to adjust to the job.

I always liked you Red. Might not have been the world's greatest manager, but you seemed like a good guy and the player's liked you. Sorry you had to face the wrath of Loria, who has yet to find a manager he truly likes and will fire every manager until he finds his next McKeon.

After so many managers, there'll reach a point where this team finally starts to realize that the problems extend beyond the manager, right. Especially since some of those managers have been quickly hired by other teams and succeeded there.

But I guess the manager is always the scapegoat. Oh well.

Prepare to give up. And prepare for a lot of screaming and whining and crying from now on. We gots us a less experienced Ozzie Guillen joining us.

Knowing how much Loria loves the 2003 team and swimming in nostalgia, any chance he wants to bring in Lowell or Pudge as a manager?

Didn't they just give Redmond a 3-year extension before the year began? Lets fire that guy 38 games into the season.
