“You don’t want to, I guess, put down anybody, but I think he’s a little bit better than what Jose Reyes was in his prime just because he’s incredibly fast,” Hamels said of Gordon. “He might be a tick more, not to discredit Jose, who is a pretty impressive player.
“That’s the first time I had to deal with [Gordon] on the bases. With him on the bases you have to pay attention to two individuals (the hitter and the runner) instead of one. It was a learning lesson knowing I’ll have to face him a lot more. I wasn’t able to balance the two.”
