This is the hitter I wanted all along. He's the perfect cleanup hitter to protect Stanton, he's going to be a much better overall player at 1B than he was being Adam Dunn lite in left field, and he doesn't cost us any more prospects. He made too much sense all along and I was actually sad when we went after LaRoche first. Now knowing that Morse cost a good $14 million less than LaRoche, I don't see why we wouldn't have been on Morse the entire time as opposed to a contigency plan. I guess front offices see LaRoche as the better player (and the guy who has more experience playing 1B), but I'd rather have Morse next season period.
Great deal. This entire offseason, outside of having to trade Andrew Heaney, has been very very positive. Front office has done a good job making this team a legitimate contender for next season (even if it meant depleting our minors). Very excited to see this lineup next season...
Gordon
Yelich
Stanton
Morse
McGehee
Ozuna
Salty
Hech
I'd personally put Ozuna 5th and McGehee 6th but this is what I think the Marlins will end up doing. Still the lineup is looking good, the replacement starting rotation without Jose for half the year looks manageable, and if we could patch together a half decent bullpen we could have a really nice year.
