Well if they sign and trade for one, they have this:

Haren
Cosart
Eovaldi
Koehler

So yes, I imagine something is wrong here, unless they think Fernandez(DL), Eovaldi out in a trade, and Haren retires/Koehler bullpen. Which then creates a logjam mid-season when Fernandez is back, but I guess thats a good July 31st problem.

what do we think the difference in terms of trade cost is between cueto and latos?

I mean, with Heaney gone, my initial reaction is Ozuna but that would be insane...

I have no idea what they can send them. Eovaldi/Cishek? If they got Cishek, it really opens up a Chapman trade for them I guess which would then be the money saver?

Latos is also from Broward, so it's kind of smart in signability. Not that he would take a severe discount, but he would probably entertain a contract which is something for these guys

I agree, unless the "signed" one is something Brett Anderson/Justin Masterson/rehab project for a 1/$3 deal and a lot of incentives.

They really need a yes/no from Haren at this point I imagine

Yea. It's Eovaldi + for the Marlins here, minimum. Hopefully not Cishek.

I do like the idea of extending Latos for 4-5 years, or getting the draft pick compensation though. At least there is that.

I just have no idea what in the farm they can trade at this point that has real value, especially since Nicolino is "untouchable" and they can't move Realmuto.

When you said Koehler did you mean Nicolino? Because I mean, the writing is on the wall with that now and they will put a lefty in there.
