Yes, he should have been on the team to begin with.
I'm not the one who said McGehee didn't deserve it, I just knew that 1) he would finish last because Marlins and 2) other people here would say he didn't.
While it seemed expected Alvarez would get in with a few of the pitchers slated for Sunday, its really nice to see Alvarez getting the recognition he deserved from the start. He's stepped up in the ace role with Fernandez going down, and even with the bad start against the Mets he's still been one of the best pitchers in the National League this year.
McGehee is a fringe guy who's having a great, unexpected year but likely doesn't deserve an All Star spot over Frazier and Rendon. I'm not sure about the McGehee vs Carpenter debate, as you could really go either way with that one (I'd side with McGehee just because I feel he's had a bigger impact offensively).
