    Couple of things:

Why the HELL is Solano on this team?

Also, why the FUCK is Solano on this team?

Oh yeah, and you can't walk TG to start off the ninth.

Shitty decisions, shitty results. To hell with this team.

I don't really have any sort of problem with Solano being on the roster.

There's damn near no excuse for him getting at-bats against RHB over Dietrich.
    --------------------
Solano rates out as a solidly above-average fielder at 2B and isn't such a black hole offensively that he can't be the utility man.

I don't know if anyone feels the same way, but I'm not a big fan of Jarrod Saltalamacchia. He's not the team's biggest problem by any means, but he's sort of become my least favorite player on the team.

I've seen people on twitter say the same thing.

              I'll admit, I don't fucking get it.

I'm wondering if any of the reporters in the post-game interview asked Redmond, either tonight or any night this has happened, why he didn't pinch-hit Dietrich for Solano. I feel like that's something that would be asked in other markets, but there doesn't seem to be many of those game management questions that are brought up here, asked to Red.

Saltalamacchia is 12th among catchers in fWAR.

He's already 12th all time in single-season fWAR for a Marlins catcher.

                  I really don't get it.
                  --------------------
He has a 112 wRC+. The Marlins have had two catchers in team history appear in more than 100 games while besting that mark.

                  Yeah, I don't get it.
                  --------------------
They probably need to get a Miguel Olivo type of catcher who can hit LHP, but other than that, I don't get not being happy with Salty.

I find the teams strange fascination with Solano almost as troubling as their attitude towards Dietrich.

I honestly fear they look at him in the same vein as Adieny Hechavarria, not matter how much the numbers say they are terrible, they pass their eye test.

I'm a fan of Salty. Yes he strikes out a lot and he doesn't hold a candle to Mathis when it comes to defense behind the plate, but damnit if I don't feel more comfortable with Salty in the everyday lineup as opposed to what we've been trotting out every year since Lo Duca.

This might be the most infuriating loss of the year. Solano's errors in that 8th inning were just mind boggling. I understand with the infield in his mindset will be get the runner out at home first and foremost, but he just had to know that without a force out play that he wasn't gonna get that guy out. The botched double play sucked mostly because he very likely could've gotten the runner out at 2nd still and maybe it could've even been a double play still.

This would've been a huge win. Nullify the sweep against the A's and get ourselves back in the thick of the division/wild card race. For me this was the most significant loss this year thus far.

He only made the opening day roster because of an injury. They sent him down when Lucas got healthy. He started four games through the first two months of the season.

                        Good point.

I dont dislike Saltalamacchia per say. I think he kind of overpaid for someone who should probably work in a platoon, and that it was pretty obvious given his career that 2013 was kind of an anomaly as a hitter, specifically his on base rate. But he is not THAT overpaid and he is not a horrible player.

I'd argue he's not even close to overpaid.
                            --------------------
To be worth $7 million per year, he has to produce like 1.2 WAR. He's already at 1.4. That was a sneaky good contract for a front office that gets a lot of rightfully deserved shit.
                            --------------------
And it's not even like they overpaid for his production last season. He was a 3+ WAR player last season. Paying for that would have been like 4/48.

Saltalamacchia basically got paid for the player he had been the previous two seasons, not last season. That was a rare non-overpay in free agency.

Yeah, I don't get it at all.

dim, the box score does not indicate any errors in this game.

                              Do you mean mental errors?

I was fucking my girlfriend and missed everything from the 5th inning on.
