  • Salty Worst Pitch Framer in MLB?

Obviously not the best article, but I am assuming there is some basis behind the stat. Just sharing because we get a fun reference that Salty has cost the Marlins 13+ runs this year so far because he can't frame pitches.

I have to question just how that is calculated, because 13+ runs seems like a huge number in ~60 games.

Basically, Jarrod Saltalamacchia's pitch-framing has cost the Marlins as much as all but the three most-valuable defensive players in the league have saved, overall?

Wouldn't the number be higher for catchers since they're involved on every pitch? That's my guess, but I could be wrong.

Right, but we're talking about a few inches here and there. I find it hard to believe the impact is that great, even over the course of a few tens of thousands of pitches.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the numbers just don't really pass the sniff test to me.
