If we wait till the trade deadline, some team who needs a closer(NYY) or some team who's closer got hurt will pay out the ass for Cishek. The only negative is teams also know that Cishek will be gone before the 2015 season so it's not like an arguement of we won't trade him if we don't get a deal we like won't work

We are still looking for a veteran innings eater(likely to sign 1 by ST) and another RP. RP will likely come from a minor league deal
Our position guys seem to be set tho now with the Baker signing

What is his upside?
Is his upside additional lols for Marlins fans?
It's also not a big deal since he's not really blocking anybody.
He's also the type of guy who could bring back a solid prospect at the deadline more so than another reliever doing the same thing. He still gets a lot of strikeouts and GM's are more likely to value his previous closer experience in terms of trade value as opposed to a guy like Chad Qualls (which that's really all this is; he's replacing Chad Qualls).
It's also not as if Marmol's problems are due to lack of velocity/stuff. If the Marlins can fix him somewhat, he'll have value at the deadline. If not, who cares? Marmol pitched pretty well for the Dodgers down the stretch last year.

I'm with Erick though. Who cares. It's $750k over minimum and its Lorias money. Not like that move is preventing them from signing Stanton… Marmol can be cut or traded, they can keep Koehler stretched out as a starter in AAA and de facto 6th SP, and they have options on the other fringe guys like Dyson, Brady, and Sanchez so don't lose anyone (although someone has to be DFA'd). Would like to see money spent on a 5th SP though unless they are real confident in Hand.
Bullpen probably has a cumulative 9.5 K/9 right now. Not sure what that BB/9 is though.

Two guys are about to be booted from the 40 to make room for Baker and Marmol. I would guess Dyson, Hatcher and Paredes could be prime candidates.Last edited by Miamarlin21; 02-07-2014, 02:14 AM.LHP Chad James-Jupiter Hammerheads-

it's an lololololol move because we have umpteen guys who can do what he already does, and because this is the Marlins, so when Cishek gets traded for two AA prospects in July, he's going to be our closer.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.
