We're gonna have a good problem on our hands with Fernandez, Turner, Eovaldi, Alvarez, Heaney and Nicolino.
          LHP Chad James-Jupiter Hammerheads-

          5-15 3.80 ERA (27 starts) 149.1IP 173H 63ER 51BB 124K

Heaney and Nicolino haven't made it to AA yet. I think both will be good, but there's a lot of time for stuff to happen before that is an issue.

Yep, those problems almost never actually become problems.

Well of course. But still, they are looking good so far. So is DeSclafani, even though most think he'll go to the bullpen.

Eovaldi is averaging 96.8mph on his fastball. That's insane.

And Flynn, although he's cooled off some. He had a weird start tonight (4.2ip 8ha 4r 2er 3bb 8k). Hard not to be intrigued by his K rates (74k in 71.2ip in AAA, 99k in 94.2ip overall), if nothing else.

9.3k/9 as a starter in AAA is hard to ignore.

Turner needs to miss more bats before I start getting excited about him. Good start today.

I'm not sure Descalfini goes to the 'pen. At this rate he's set to earn a rotation spot, as long as he dominates AA like he did A+ ball.
                      --------------------
Also went to the game tonight. Fun game to watch. Stanton hit some balls hard, especially the home run. Ozuna with a big base hit early, Dietrich with some nice AB's, even Mathis had one nice hit.

Turner is probably never going to amount to an ace, and tonight's performance wasn't the most dominant complete game you will ever experience. But he's going to turn out to be a decent #2 or 3 starter over the long term. I can deal with that as long as Fernandez is here to stay.

He's missing some bats (10.4 swstrk% heading into tonight's game); it just hasn't translated into a lot of strikeouts yet.

He's getting a lot of groundballs so far.

Some strikeout pitchers translates into high pitch counts. I like him getting ground balls and some strikeouts when needed

Turner's updated SwStr% is 10.9%, which would be tied for 10th in baseball if he qualified.

He was 9.6% last year, which would have been top 25 in baseball.
