I wonder who the two pitchers coming up will be.

Vanden Hurk for one, but the second...Andrew "Thriller" Miller?

MIAMI -- Chris Volstad's night ended early as the Marlins lost, 9-5, to the Padres on Friday night before 14,402 fans at Land Shark Stadium.

Florida jumped on San Diego starter Kevin Correia early, plating a run in the first when Wes Helms singled home Chris Coghlan, but it was the Padres offense that would put on a show Friday night.

San Diego answered with a six-run second inning that ended Volstad's outing. The right-hander allowed six runs on six hits over a career-low 1 2/3 innings. Volstad, who had allowed a team-high 26 home runs coming into Friday's game, gave up a powerful two-run blast to Kyle Blanks that gave the Padres the lead.

The Padres added a run in the third on an Everth Cabrera double that ended reliever Brian Sanches' home scoreless innings streak at 25 2/3. The streak was the longest ever by a Marlins reliever and third longest in franchise history.

The Marlins scored two in the fourth, one in the seventh and one in the ninth, but the Padres offense continued to produce, scoring in the fifth and seventh innings to keep the game out of reach.

this whole team hasnt been clicking since NJ injury. Really thought the marlins have a good chance with the way we were playing since his arrival.

That was the worst game I'm ever been to. The pitching as a whole was terrible and, if that wasn't bad enough, the family behind me were driving me insane.

These two grandparents, three adults in their 40's and 3 10 year olds were sitting directly behind me. The three 10 year olds were extremely loud and, if that wasn't bad enough, the grandmother thought it would be a good idea to get them horns. So these three kids kept blowing those horns the entire second half of the game. I felt like I was in hell.

Did they get the horns before the second inning? If so, I blame the horns.

he only pitched badly because he knew he'd be sent down if he pitched badly

"Fredi said today that he'll most likely use Miller in the bullpen when he comes back up - a long relief guy would be fitting. Penny clears waivers on Monday and I heard there is interest... so I'll keep you posted for sure."

I got this from D Stro's facebook page. So I guess its gonna be RVH to take Volstad's spot and when Miller comes up he might go to the bullpenn.

She also said Ayala is one of the guys getting called up tomorow.

D Stro says the other person getting called up is gonna be Tim Wood. So if shes right its gonna be Ayala and Wood.

What does one penny say to the other penny (the marlins in this case)?

Lets get together and make some cents.

Well, at least when we fall short this year we can't say the management didn't at least try to improve at the deadline.

Maybe if they had tried to improve (and by improve I mean replace Bonifacio with fucking anybody in baseball dead or alive) in like June, we might be looking at a whole different season. But, you know. Points for effort.
