I don't think we'll get much of anything for Ruggiano. Probably better to just keep him.

If you can get something for him and Yelich and Ozuna are already up and appear to be holding their own I think you have to trade him.

I love Ruge, but what's the market for a 31 year old OF who's hitting .233/.310/.440?

I mean maybe we'd get a AA reliever or something.

We didn't get anything for Cody Ross.

Ruggiano be a 4th OF on most teams, no?

Yeah, we just let him go on trade waivers in August.

Am I the only one who doesn't want to trade Morrison? I still think he can be a good player.

Me neither. I still believe he can be good.

I want to keep Ruggiano, but I also want the outfield to be Ozuna/Yelich/Stanton. Ruggiano hasn't played anywhere other than the outfield, and Yelich looks like he's going to be ready by mid June. Unless you teach him how to play an infield position, I don't know where you put him.

Morrison's also a guy I don't want to trade. He's got talent for sure. He just needs to remember the kind of hitter he was in the minors. I wonder if running him around in the outfield where he doesn't belong hurt him significantly (it most likely did).

First, I don't get the Ruggiano love. Guy had a couple good months last year and has done nothing worthwhile besides that in his career. He's almost 32. He's a fourth outfielder on a mediocre team.

Get ANYTHING for him and it's a win. We got him for free.

Second, Yelich is a natural 1B. We taught him to be an OFer.

Third, the odds of Ozuna, Yelich, Stanton, and Morrison all being on the same team at the same time is so low due to both money and injury history.

Fourth, these guys are professional ballplayers. Playing a different position doesn't mess up an entire career. Running Miguel Cabrera around in the outfield where he didn't belong really hurt him. There are hundreds of guys who play different positions to break into the majors. Albert Pujols (played only 3B in the minors, split time between LF/RF/3B/1B in majors). Jackie Robinson. Ryan Braun played nothing but 3B his whole life and then switched to LF his second year in the majors. They're pros. This is what they do. It doesn't change their careers. Maybe Morrison just isn't a .300/.380/.475 bat like we had hoped.

Morrison also had a .265 BABIP in 2011 and a .248 BABIP in 2012. He's been pretty unlucky.

FWIW, there are 41 guys with a BABIP below .265 this year

John Buck's BABIP is .211 this year. He's like the most unlucky guy ever.
                            Dobbs (.256)

There are 3 guys with sub .200 BABIPs

                            Josh Reddick
                            Aaron Hicks

                            Adam Dunn (.159) ouch

Ruggiano's BABIP this year is .270

It's not awful but it's like the opposite of what it was last year

                              Hechavarria is under .200.

Ruggiano will never do what he did last year again.

I'm not sure what the point of this is.

The BABIP stats I posted are for people with qualifying AB's

Hech has about 75 AB's all year

This is the least surprising thing I've read all day.
