I think they might DFA Kotchman because Lomo.

I'd like for him and Diaz to stay so our bench isn't awful.

Kotchman was just signed because LoMo was on the DL and was a cheap option for 1B

The thing is that at the Trade Deadline most of these guys are gonna be gone anyway so they are putting them on the 60 Day they are just free up spots for now.

Silverio doesn't need to come off the 60 Day DL,it is just he needs to play a certain amount of time in order to not have the same rules in 2014. They could leave him on the 60 Day All year and then see how he does in Winter Ball and ST.

It should be fun tho to see this team come August 1,very possible we have an OF of Ozuna,Yelich,Stanton or even Yelich at 1B if LoMo is this hurt.

As for Dyson, the FO really likes him so don't think he would get DFA. They think he can be in the pen in 2014

I like how the lineup is getting more fun players while the assholes are getting hurt (besides Giancarlo)

        very exciting

they'll still suck... but suck less... maybe

A fun September lineup would be:

          1. Yelich CF
          2. LoMo 1B
          3. Stanton LF
          4. Ozuna RF
          5. Dietrich 2B
          6. Hechevarria SS
          7. Brantley/Skipworth/Acquired dood C
          8. ASS/Acquired dood 3B

Maybe if we deal Slowey or Ruggiano, we can pick up guys who can step in right away at C or 3B.

is Skip not playing catcher anymore?

I'd love to see Brantly/Olivo both go on the DL for a stint (maybe like a a broken finger), just so we have to play Skipworth everyday for 2 weeks. He'd prob go 4/50, but 3 of those hits would be massive moonshots.

Can he really be that much worse than Brantley/Olivo?

Completely confused about what they're doing with Skipworth this year. He has 17 ABs between AAA and the bigs so far. He's 23 years old, have him play every day in AAA. If he somehow came out of nowhere and put up an .800-850 OPS in AAA he'd be a legit prospect again.

I don't think Skipworth, even though he's young, is a serious prospect to follow anymore.

That being said, he's being toyed with by the front office. He learned nothing as a backup getting no playing time in the majors.

Austin Barnes, if he stays at catcher, is going to surpass Skipworth in the ranks very, very soon anyway (if he hasn't already).

I agree he's no longer a legit prospect in any way, but there's enough there to at least give him every opportunity to show what he can do. He had a .197 ISO last year in AA. That shows huge power for a Catcher, and while that's really his only legitimate skill at this point, at least give him every opportunity to develop the skills to accompany that power.

The best thing for Skip was if we were in the AL so he could DH,he can hit monster shots but they have lost all confidence in him behind the plate. He can't call a game at all and teams would just run on him everytime. Surprised tho some AL team hasn't tried to make a trade for him. I bet we would be willing to trade him for another young catcher if a team offered it

People don't realize tho Catcher isn't just about hitting,u also have to be able to control and run the game and he can't

Realmuto has already passed him by and another name to watch is Wil Gimenez, while he is not a big prospect the team sees him as a future ML backup catcher and he does much of the catching in Jupiter over Barnes

I am glad we are not in the AL because I couldn't care less about Skipworth as a DH.

Skipworth as a DH would be laughably stupid. He's infinitely more valuable as a catcher.

I don't think there are many people that know much about baseball that don't realize that defense is important for a catcher.

I didn't think Skipworth's defensive woes were as bad as you say. He threw out 35% of runners last year at AA. That's pretty respectable. .991 fielding % ain't bad either.
