It's trolling plenty of members on the board though

You put up the watch in August, no one cares... even the ASB break

but it was put up 2 games into the season

I really don't see the big deal in regards to creating the thread. It's not just the bad record, but now without Stanton (which was expected at some point even though this thread was created before that), this offense is probably the worst I've ever seen.

Maybe it'll look better in June/July, but the talent in this lineup is pretty laughable, and the success of our current ace is unsustainable.

I fail to see how there's a substantiated claim there.

Do some members of the board like the front office still? Sure, but that has little to nothing to do with the probability of the Marlins being one of the worst teams in baseball history. What does have a lot to do with this is how bad the team has been, and their record plays to that. The team is currently one game behind the pace of the 62 Mets; it's not like this is simply the wishful thinking of contrarians while a team is .500 and clinging to respectability.

If anything, the trolling came in the response threads. But if other members want to keep updating them constantly, then good for them. If the troll can be kept going for a full season then more power to 'em.

It was put up after a few games. It's a massive troll. It's not to you because you clearly don't like the team right now as noted by your half Blue Jay/half Marlins avatar on Twitter. You think it's hysterical and you're hoping this team loses 120 (I believe you're one, if not, my apologies).

That being said, update it all year, more power to ya.

I don't see how the Mets Watch thread is a troll. I hope we come nowhere near that mark, but anyone who has watched the team so far has to admit, this team approaching that mark is by no means unrealistic.

And if the team goes on a nice run, that thread will die off, so who cares.

So, according to the bastion of internet knowledge (all-knowing Wikipedia):
In Internet slang, a troll (pron.: /ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is someone who posts inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
Is a thread about the Marlins poor performance:
                1. Inflammatory? I strongly say no, considering that the team is on pace to be worse than the 1962 Mets.
                2. Extraneous? Certainly not, as all agreed (even before the season) that this team was going to be awful.
                3. Off-topic? Most certainly not, SEE: points one and two.

In fact, if no one had bothered to respond to the thread at all, and it was just daily posts by Festa or me, then it would have accomplished exactly the same result as it does now - keeping a public track of the 2013 Miami Marlins' very reasonable chance to be a historically bad team.

I think we need to draw very clear lines here between honest protest and trolling. We also need to draw clear distinctions between a singular action and assuming intent of a poster. How about we seek to not continue the current societal climate where anyone who doesn't agree with your point of view is tyrannized and that there are only two sides to any story.

I think the fact that it's sticky'd is pretty silly, and probably meant to bring about a reaction.

I don't see the original 1962 Mets thread as trolling whatsoever. But I think the copycat threads certainly are trolling, because they were made with the intent to mock the original.

They were made to show how doing something like that so early could be silly.

That said, I don't have a problem with any of the threads.

I feel like this thread would've been trolling last year after a bad April.

It's different this year. I think everyone believes that this team is pretty bad, realistically.

My Bonds and Mariners threads were absolutely trolling, although not mean-spirited and meant exactly as Mainge said.

Word trolling is getting used way too much lately. The mean-spirited stuff sucks, otherwise we're all just having fun.

I kinda agree with Hugg here.

It's all in good fun. To call the 62' Mets thread a troll is really stupid (and out of touch) but to get all bent out of shape about Hugg's threads is being easily offended. I hate easily offended.

The fun thing about the 62' Mets thread and Hugg's threads is that it's gonna be fun to see how it all plays out at the end of September.
