That's impressive considering the market.
Miami is never going to be this great baseball or sports market. There is a lot to do in town, a lot of people are not from here, yada yada yada. It will always be at best an average market both in TV ratings and attendance. It is not truely a market of 5.5 million people. It has three distinct centers spread out evenly over a strip of land 15 x 100 miles.

I always assumed MLB hoped the Miami and West Palm markets would kind of merge and form one big media market behind the Marlins, because the two combined would be what...the 5th or 6th biggest in baseball?Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. I think the hope was that Miami businesses would pick up the slack from the individuals lost as the team moved away from Broward / Palm Beach but now that seems a little too ambitious.

Palm Beach only made up 10% of the season ticket base in JRS.

Henry had sites all over the map and the market research determined Miami would be the most viable location. How can you make a determination that things were too ambitious when we had one season to look at?
In the short and long term, moving to Miami proper will be the best decision this franchise made. Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach will always be Miami's little brothers in economic clout.
