Obviously I don't know all the costs of shit, but lets say they sell 1.2 million tickets (about 15k a game) at $30 average a pop. That's 36 million. That covers payroll. But then there are all the employees, advertising, ballpark operating costs, team operating costs, etc. plus draft signing bonuses and so on. Do they make enough on their concessions, shitty tv deal, corporate sponsorships, etc to cover that?

Obviously that's fuzzy math and unscientific and I have no idea what actually goes into operating a baseball team. Just some thoughts.
Starting next season, the Marlins will have $74 million in the bank before selling a ticket from national TV money and MLBAM.

It's really amazing how much money MLB has.

With TV ratings, that doesn't really hurt the Marlins from a financial perspective-- it hurts FSF. The Marlins aren't responsible for selling commercials as far as I know.

Is it safe to say that in terms of the overall fanbase, the Marlins have reached an all time low?

Absolutely. Closest was 2006 and even then, this board was okay with the firesale.

I dunno if we are upset with this firesale as we are with the lack of reinvesting the money they SHOULD have. Locking up Stanton and front loading the deal would help.
