Alvarez - 90% Tear UCL
Rotoworld blurbCBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Henderson Alvarez has been pitching through a "90 percent tear" of his right ulnar collateral ligament "for years."
This is the first we've heard about a UCL issue for Alvarez, although he had a brief elbow problem last season and there were whispers when he went on the disabled list last month that he had an elbow injury in addition to a shoulder ailment. There have been some that have pitched through ligament damage in the past, although it's hard to imagine anyone pitching with as much of a tear that Alvarez apparently has. It certainly makes him a medical red flag moving forward.
But I mean he's been doing it for years so it'll be ok. fuck.
