    Don't know if standard league wide but definitely not out of the ordinary to have these holding companies whose sole business is to own shares in the owner's other/main business

      Yeah, this is not uncommon in sports. The Dodgers were the extreme where McCourt broke up the Dodgers into 25+ different entities. There is usually an entity for the team and entity for the stadium/ownership group.

        What about the rebranding money ? They sold thousands of shirts, caps, jerseys, etc. more than they ever have.

            Stuff bought at retail stores and online, yes. Stuff sold at the stadium or mall kiosks owned by the Marlins stays with the team.
