    SP(Still want a vet,but for innings and insurance-No Pavano at 4 mil)

Other than that the team is pretty much set for next year with the other SP more likely just aroud in case. They are willing to sign a guy who is "injured" and won't be ready until bout June/July

As for names, its pretty much who will sign down here or wants a chance. As seen from the Polanco deal,we have to overpay for FA.
    Except we didn't overpay...

Polanco(37) 1yr 2.75mil and only played 90 games last year

If Polanco was 32-34 then ya worth the money but at 37 we did overpay

      • Every team overpays for free agents. If not, you wouldn't be the highest bidder. Look up "The Winner's Curse."

            Ian Stewart fucking sucks.
Jeff Keppinger got a 3-year deal. A platoon player who sucks defensively. He and Polanco are basically similar hitters; the only difference is Polanco is an above average defender.
Jack Hannahan fucking sucks and got a 2-year deal.
Eric Chavez is a platoon hitter who can't play every day because he is literally injury prone. That was a nice deal too though, just like this one.

Also the same market that gave Youkilis 12 million and Mark Reynolds, who also sucks, 6 million.

Yeah, this is not an overpay.

This is, at worst, a fair deal.

Polanco put up a 3 WAR as recently as 2011, something the first three guys you listed have never done/will probably never do and something Eric Chavez hasn't done since 2006.

Stewart played 55 games and got $750K less....and he's sucked his entire career. Polanco at $2.75 million doesn't seem like an overpayment to me. Yeah he was hurt last year, but he's not the injury risk that Chavez is and he got $250K MORE than Polanco. Also, Hannahan played 105 games, is terrible, and got an extra year.

              • Realistically we may not break 100 home runs as a team, right? 15 combined from the 4 idiots above, 35 from Iron Mike, 15 from Ruggiano, 20 from LoMo, 8 from Brantley, 8 from the bench? I mean, it's a very real possibility, isn't it?

The Giants hit a MLB low 103 home runs last year and they seemed to do OK. Not saying that we will be anywhere close to winning a World Series...just that not hitting a lot of home runs isn't the end of the world.

                      • We have an above average defensive player at every position basically.
Pierre will probably be a - because it's a bigger ballpark and Lomo nobody knows (1B is his natural position, though).

Point is, we'll have a good defensive team this year which should help the young pitchers.

Maybe Nolasco's ERA matches his peripherals this year too and we get something at the trade deadline because of the better defensive team.

Were his peripherals even that good last year?

They were better than his ERA.

A high 3's/low 4's ERA guy who eats up innings has some value at the trade deadline for sure.

It would look a lot better than an ERA in the mid-4's/~5.

Holy crap it's gonna be as painful an offense as last year, or worse.
