He doesn't get a ton of K's. In his Cy Young year, his xERA, FIP, and xFIP were all much higher than his actual ERA and he was assisted by a very low BABIP. If you look at his statcast page nothing really jumps out or is elite.
His biggest asset is that he eats innings.
I dont hate him. I just think a lot of Marlins fans overrate him quite a bit.
And at the end of the day he is 30 this year with a contract that has a year and an option left taking him through his age 32 season. They aren't going to resign him and he won't be here during any competitive window. His biggest value to the Marlins is as a team overpaying for him in prospects.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. If any other organization's owner flexed on the amount of minor league free agent signings they did, when asked about the lack of free agent spending, they'd probably be forced to sell the team. In our organization, nobody questions it, nobody bats a fucking eye.

Why are our writers so pathetic? Why do they allow Sherman to continuously talk about building up the organization from the ground up as a defense to not spending without calling him out for saying that during jeters tenure as well or that not being mutually exclusive to spending. It’s absurd to say that he can’t spend until the infrastructure of the organization is built up. Just complete gaslighting

also, as everyone knows I’m very Trust The Bendix process but it was comical how many times Broke Bruce and Bendix said the word “investment” during that relatively short presser.

bragging about signing minor league free agents and having the most trades in the last year (no shit he tore the whole major league team down) is a new level of embarrassmentLast edited by fish16; 02-17-2025, 07:03 PM.

Not a single person asked why that’s not able to be done while also spending money like an actual major league franchise. It’s the same bullshit, the same cliches, year after year with this clown owner and for the second straight year with this clown gm. This is a minor league organization masquerading as a major league team, and not a single one of those beat writers ever asks tough questions. You’re just a homer who refuses to admit this is a complete clown show. Do you know how bad of owner you have to be to make Jeffrey Lorias tenure look competent?

As a journalist, when a guy gaslights you and clearly evades questions, you follow up and press them. Especially when it’s the same story every time the guy takes questions, They let him tell the same lies and spill the same bullshit cliches he’s said for years. It’s an embarrassment. Bring a fan doesn’t mean blind support like you Baghdad bob, it means being critical when it’s deserved. This team doesn’t just deserve criticism, they deserve to be eviscerated publicly at every opportunity. Doing so doesn’t mean I should go follow another team, it means I’m not an excuse making clown like you. Your continued rationalization, excuse making, and blind belief in this sack of shit franchise is pathetic at this point. You’re in the vast vast minority at this point, not meLast edited by fish16; 02-17-2025, 07:39 PM.

Yeah, the problem wasn't the questions. The problem was Bendix and Sherman gave laughable answers and got no follow-up/push back.
The comment about trades was just unbelievably out of touch. Touting how many trades they've made like that's a good thing. If you're making a lot of trades that means you're in the absolute shitter.
Sherman just seems to me like he doesn't really care/know much about baseball. At least with Loria it was clear he liked baseball. He just liked money more. (Loria was also more shady/underhanded than what I've seen from Sherman though so it's probably a wash when you compare the two)
Also, watching Sherman and Bendix together, if I knew nothing about them and you told me that Bendix was Sherman's kid nephew who Sherman is letting be GM as a favor to his sister I would totally believe it.

Stop lying to yourself that I’m a fan of Sherman to make your arguments better.
Sherman’s a complete joke if an owner. I’m just more self aware than you are. I know that I’m still going to follow the team and support the players on the field. I didn’t purchase a 10 game plan last year for the first time in years and it was 100% because of Broke Bruce. I didn’t fior one second consider getting a 10 game plan this year either.
See you on the forum on Opening Day!
