CF will be the most interesting battle this year. Stowers, Sanoja and Victor Mesa Jr. will all get looks I would think. I know Mesa Jr. is still only 23, but I think he's really gotta show something at the Major League Level this year. The door is wide open for him, he needs to grab the reins or else I think we gotta start looking outside the organization for a CF next offseason. Honestly I don't think he'll be the guy, I think he'll be a real solid 4th OF, but hopefully he can prove me wrong this year.
Sanoja, I see as a jack of all-trades Utility guy, who never quite cracks the permanent starting lineup but still gets 300-400 ABs a year.
I guess Griffin Conine is the starting LF going into the season? I would've been stunned had you told me that last year. My brain tells me his success last year can be chalked up to small sample size, but I hope I'm wrong. The talent is there, but I think we all thought he would not be able to overcome the K's, we'll see what happens.
Derek Hill is still on the roster, but I really hope his role is no more than 4th or 5th OF.
Another option I would like to see them try in order to take on some money is stroman. He missed the first two days of spring for the Yankees, outright refused to pitch out of the bullpen, and has this year and a conditional player option for next year at 18 million if he pitches more than 140 innings this year. If they eat a good amount of that money I can’t imagine they would ask for much.
Whites going to be good, but I’d bet money on them never sharing the same Rotation with us at any point, whether it’s due to injuries or sandy traded by trade deadline 2026
If Alcantra is here past this deadline that will be a travesty.
Wrong. He’s signed through 2027. If he has a good year a real team re-signs him to a couple more years. We are not a real team so what you’re suggesting probably will happen, but it will not be a “travesty” if he’s not traded.

If they’re going to do their 15th consecutive rebuild, they may as well extend it for another 5 years and get 2 balls of backs instead of the regular 1 to save Bruce some more money.

Your dislike for probably the second best pitcher in franchise history is super bizarre. Calling keeping a legitimate ace on an affordable contract a “travesty” is pathetic

I think his point is that it’s their last chance for a haul of the latest prospects.

Which I don't think is necessarily correct, I think a Sandy that's proved that he can be the innings machine he was over a full season has more value than one that's only played half a season coming off TJS. Like I mentioned, still 2 full seasons at $18.5 mil in 2026 and $21 mil in 2027.
IMO, the goal should be 2027 to try and compete. If you have a healthy Sandy and Eury, if Thomas White is what we think he is. Then you fill out 4th and 5th spot with the likes of Cabrera, Weathers, Garrett, Max Meyer, Fulton, Noble Meyer, Mazur, Snelling. Send some of those guys to the pen, trade others for offense. Develop your hitters for 2 years, then actually spend significant money to fill out the lineup in the 2026-2027 Offseason.
The spending will never happen, but this should be the plan based on the way they've gone about things so far.
