Luzardo has an extensive injury history and exactly one MLB quality pitch in his slider, and games when that pitch isn't working he gets rolled.
The issue isn't that these moves were made. The issue is that they were important players to begin with.
luzardo has an injury history. Hes a very good pitcher when healthy. You’ve made that same stupid slider point before as well. It’s still dumb. If he’s on the open market as a free agent he gets over $100 million

Batters have almost a 1000 OPS against Luzardo's fastball. It's literally one of the worst in baseball.
Burger had a 103 OPS+ last season. He has one tool but really doesn't make enough contact to utilize it.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. Or a hairstylist."

burger is a career 113 wrc+ and 111 ops+. If you allow him to just be a dh, he is a very solid player in this league. Probably a top half of the league dh.

You realize .779 still isn't good right? Neither is an OPS+ of 113 as a DH.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. Or a hairstylist."

and an ops+ of 113 is absolutely good for a dh. That’s a top half of the league dh. Last year, team stat wise, the marlins were exactly middle of the road at dh at 15th in the league with a wrc+ of 107. 113 would have been 12th best team in the league. His 120 wrc+ in 2023 would have been the 7th best dh last year

not that this has any impact on the team on the field, but the team announced an outdoor "Miami Live" venue space outside the stadium coming in 2026. Whether it gets used is another story, but this is desperately needed. the area surrounding the ballpark sucks,
As i've said for years, i also think they should take out a few sections in the outfield upper deck in right field and add a "chophouse" type bar standing room only area like they have in Atlanta which is a really cool area if you've ever been to that stadium, and i've seen that Colorado has something similar now as well. This ballpark does not need 37k seats, and with the completely awful surrounding area near the ballpark, there is more needed to bring people out to the ballpark other than just coming up with random spanish platitude pandering phrases. If you can put a cheap, standing room only happy hour type section in the upper deck outfield, i'd bet you can get more professionals coming from work going to the game. currently, the stadium itself is nice compared to what pro player was, but there is nothing bringing different kinds of people to the stadium and there is nothing whatsoever around the stadium. There is 0 to do there for casual fans who dont want to go watch a shitty team play baseball. All this would require vision and not cheaping out on everything, so this will never happen here, which is partly why this fanbase will never grow.
Edit- the section in colorado is called "The Rooftop" and it's 38k square feet of different bars and restaurants. i know people in denver who dont give a shit about baseball who go to those games because of that area, and i know people in atlanta who dont care about the braves at all who go to those games because of the area outside the ballpark, the battery, plus the chophouse in right field.Last edited by fish16; 01-14-2025, 10:48 AM.

I have been to both the Rooftop and the Chophouse (the Rooftop is the better of the two).
I agree that the Marlins would be best served with something similar. And sooner rather than later, Broke Bruce.
However, saying there is 0 to do at Marlins games for fans that just want to hang out and drink and eat instead of watching the game is ponderous negativity.
The Recess Sports Lounge and Budweiser Bar have tons of people doing just that at loanDepot. I don’t expect fish16 to know that, though, because he admittedly doesn’t attend Marlins games.

The biggest issue is the complete lack of real attractions inside and outside the stadium to do before, during, and after the game. The idea when the stadium opened was that businesses, bars, or restaurants would start opening in the retail section of the parking garage. That was never going to work because people are only there for 81 days per year. You cant sustain a business only 81/365 days per year, plus a few concerts/shows/other events occasionally. The way forward was always going to be something operated specifically by the marlins in the plaza that is open on game days.
the miami live is a great start. more is needed inside the stadium, and there is never ever a need for this team to have 37k seats. If you can take 5k out, put some sort of additional attractions for families or young professionals getting off work in Downtown, you can start to attract more people to the ballpark and actually develop a more consistent crowd more frequently outside of just playing a big market team.

I havent gone to a game since i believe 2022 because im not supporting that shit owner and shit product or making the effort to drive an hour on a good day to downtown miami in rush hour traffic for a team that isnt trying to compete. There is nothing special or memorable about the stadium. The fact that you're just naming 2 bars as the best selling points of a stadium in the middle of little havana with nothing to do (up until 2026) inside or outside the stadium is evidence of that. I've sat in Recess before. You cant see the game or have a terrible view from much of Recess. The budweiser bar is just a bar. It has a nice view of downtown thru the windows and a great view of the field, but these are things that almost every single ballpark has. They arent bad amenities but those 2 things are not bringing people out to the ballpark who otherwise wouldnt go nor are they all that unique.

and those ballparks are also mostly located in super convenient and populous areas of their cities. Ours being in a shit location in little havana has to go even further to really get people out there, which they havent done. They cant help the location of their stadium at this point, but it being in a place that makes it a pain in the ass for a good percentage of their fanbase in Broward and Palm Beach means they have to go even further to make it worth while to go there. Hopefully this Miami Live is step one and further upgrades are coming in future years inside the stadium.Last edited by fish16; 01-14-2025, 02:19 PM.

Hell, just look at the other stadiums/arenas in this exact area. The heat is located in the heart of downtown. bayside sucks but there are restaurants and shopping there, they have the outside patio with bars, food, and restaurants with a great view of the bay, plus the miami world center is just adding to things to do. The panthers stadium has the plaza right in front of the arena with food and games, plus they have a full bar and food options with a live band every single game to hangout. Steven ross is a terrible owner on the field, but he has made that dump of pro player stadium into a world class stadium with a ton to do before, during, and after games.

this Miami live is being developed by the same company who did similar entertainment districts in Philly, Arlington, Baltimore, Kansas City, The battery in Atlanta, St. Louis. https://www.visitlive.com/districts

Where are they planning on putting this? I haven't really circled the stadium but isn't it all residential outside of the garages and grass lots?
Edit to change that it's going to be on the stadium grounds. That's why I should read the article.
I still say the residential aspect of the park without being able to build its own version of a Ballpark Village is the biggest detriment to the location of LoanDepot.Last edited by Todd; 01-14-2025, 07:16 PM.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler.
