Passan is reporting that Dodgers 1B coach Clayton McCullough is a candidate for the Marlins manager job. Interesting. He was mentioned as a candidate earlier on, but Amish didn’t include him when he said Miami was down to 2. He did, however say it was possible there were other names he hadn’t heard about. Passan is about as plugged in as it gets, but Mish usually has pretty good info on these types of things, even if he’s been less informed since Bendix took over.

Apparently Albernaz withdrew his name from the Marlins and Chicago jobs. Passan reported that before the McCullough report. I wonder if this is Albernaz turning them down, or them preferring McCullough and him saving face.

Adam oller was outrighted off the 40 man and is expected to sign in Japan or Korea. Which means he was passed on waivers by every single team in baseball. Another great smug take by Lou on him “Not sure if the Rockies would take him, but wouldn't get past the Angels or White Sox.”

maldonado to the a's off waivers. sixto will be gone within the next day or so as well. they have to get all the guys on the 60 day back on the 40 man by sometime this week. Peterson and Baumann probably go too plus Bachar. On the hitters side, they have to add banfield so pereda will be off the 40 man. Brujan and Hensley seem like guys to take off as well.

sixto officially outrighted off the 40 man. i think he has the right to elect free agency now.

So, in trading Yelich, Realmuto, and Stanton they got- absolutely nothing. Luckily they did well in the Ozuna trade getting Sandy and Gallen (who has turned into Ramirez and Serna). but man that's a whiff

With the Sixto chapter coming to a close you can’t help but wonder what could have been had he not suffered the worst injury possible for a pitcher (throwing shoulder)

There have been several (too many to name) pitchers over the years who were not in great physical shape yet had long successful careers because they avoided major injury.

those pitchers probably took their rehab more seriously than sixto did. He got injured in the first place partially because he came to spring in 2021 wildly out of shape. then he never seemed to take rehab seriously which is why mish said he never gave any credence to his return at any point.

His conditioning issues were well known even when we made the trade.

whether it caused the injury nobody will know, but he was known for not being in shape.
